You don't have to worry about golf courses in Florida. Is the state
in the US with the most.
I think there are other notes who cover the Tampa area. Do a
DIR/TITLE=FLORIDA
or
DIR/TITLE=TAMPA
to find them.
And as a fellow leftie and since you'll be in Florida for a long
period (i.e. not overnight) I definitely recommend that you bring
your clubs. I have gone to well established courses just to find out
they don't have left-handed clubs or they are in very poor condition,
or they only have on set is is already out. And leftie women clubs
have to be even worse.
Last year I had a one day meeting in Ayr, and was able to schedule a
day vacation after and play Royal Troon. There was no way I was
going to risk having no or bad clubs in that event, even if it meant
carrying the clubs around Europe for the rest of the trip.
Since there have been many notes here about clubs being significantly
cheaper in the US than in Europe, and an alternative is to buy clubs
locally.

Jack, (Some delay in responding due to vacation)
The back nine is not as scenic as the front, since it's mostly on the
inside, i.e. not along the coast, but that make's it more difficult
to set up your tee shot.
The experience of playing a true links course was humbling. Since it
was late in the year, the course was almost empty and I played by
myself. I had no one to give me any insight on the course and there
were many times that it was difficult to figure out where the fairway
was and you miss it and add an extra stroke since bunkers and rough
(actually wiry bushes) were murder!
Anyone needs some help in Ayr, I need more punishment!
