Dalip,
With a name starting with "Royal..." it had to be British, so I
looked it up in my book of golf courses. It is a highly
respected club in South East London. My book describes it as:-
" A pleasant, parkland course of great character as befits
the antiquity of the Club: the clubhouse dates from the 17th
Century. Many great trees survive though a great number were
lost to the Dutch Elm disease. The 18th is quite a gimmick
requiring a pitch to the green over a thick clipped hedge."
I called the secretary of the club at the week-end, and mentioned
your interest. The secretary claims that the Club is the oldest
in the world, the clubhouse being the old lodge from Eltham
Palace. They have a museum, tracing the history of the club,
with many souvenirs available. If you would like to write to
them expressing your interest, I'm sure they will look after you.
The address is:-
Wing Commander R. Barriball,
The Secretary,
Royal Blackheath,
The Club House,
Court Road,

Tel no: (UK) 081 850 1795
IMHO this is a very old club, steeped in traditions of the
British Empire and the Colonies. On the phone, the people I
spoke with were very professional, very polite and very eager to
please.
Randall
BTW The course is 6,024 yds, PAR 71 with a SSS of 69.
