1673.0. "Couldn't Believe It" by MKOTS1::MCCRACKEN () Mon Apr 19 1993 12:34

    My husband and I were watching the Heritage yesterday and thougt we
    heard something but wasn't sure.....at the end it sounded it like
    someone not realizing they were still on the air said what sounded
    like "Now lets get the f... out of here". Did any hear this also
    or were we too tired from golfing ourselves that day?

    WE WERE AT THE HERITAGE THAT LAST DAY, BUT OF COURSE YOU DON'T HEAR
    ANYTHING THAT'S BROADCAST ON THE AIR. YOU ONLY HEAR WHAT THE
    SPECTATORS ARE SAYING AND MANY OF THEM DID REPEAT WHAT YOU HEARD. I
    THOUGHT THIS WAS A GENTLEMAN'S GAME???

    SOMETHING WE SAW THAT I'M SURE WAS NOT AIRED ON TV WAS PAYNE STEWART'S
    TEMPER TANTRUM--I THINK ON THE BACK NINE. I'M A NEW GOLFER SO I
    FOLLOWED BY HUSBAND FROM HOLE TO HOLE AND DIDN'T REALLY PAY ATTENTION
    TO WHICH HOLE THIS HAPPENED ON. PAYNE MISSED ONE OR TWO PUTTS. WHEN
    HE FINALLY PUTTED OUT, HE STORMED OFF THE GREEN AND POUNDED HIS PUTTER
    INTO THE GROUND. NOW WHERE HE STORMED OFF THE GREEN WAS SOMEONE'S
    BACKYARD HE WAS POUNDING INTO. HE THEN THREW HIS BALL IN THE GRASS AND
    HIT IT AS HARD AS HE COULD. FORTUNATELY IT HIT A TREE AND CAME BACK.
    OF COURSE SEVERAL PEOPLE DIVED FOR IT. FORTUNATELY IT DIDN'T HIT
    SOMEONE'S LIVINGROOM WINDOW. PAYNE USED TO BE ONE OF MY FAVORITES.

    WHAT DID IMPRESS ME WAS HOW GRACIOUS THE PROS WERE ABOUT SIGNING
    AUTOGRAPHS. THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST PRO TOURNAMENT I HAD BEEN TO,
    BUT IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD APPROACHED ANYONE FOR AN AUTOGRAPH. I
    GOT DAVID EDWARDS (THE WINNER) ALONG WITH DAVID FROST AND STEVE PATE ON
    MY VISOR. NEEDLESS TO SAY I'LL NEVER WEAR THIS VISOR AGAIN.

    ANOTHER NICE TOURNAMENT TO GO TO IS THE BC OPEN IN ENDICOTT, NY. GUYS
    LIKE FUZZY ZOELLER AND TOM KITE--HITTING INTO THE TREES--JUST LIKE I
    DO. THE DIFFERENCE IS THEY HIT OUT A LOT BETTER THAN I EVER COULD.

    WE'RE HOPING TO SEE SOME OF THE LPGA TOUR WHEN THEY PLAY IN ROCHESTER,
    NY. ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON DATES?
1673.3Both what!!??STAR::DANIELEFri Jul 23 1993 15:2610
This happened during the LPGA skins game, which was on several weeks ago.
But I have always meant to enter it here, since it's analogous.

On one tee Nancy Lopez was last to hit, and crushed a drive.
As they were all walking off the tee, and the announcers were
doing their usual babbling before the commercial break, there
was a 3 second gap in which they were quiet and I distinctly
hear Dottie Mochrie say to Nancey Lopez,

"You really got both cheeks into that one!"
