1623.0. "Golf in Clewiston, Fla area" by SOFBAS::SULLIVAN () Tue Jan 26 1993 13:31

I scanned most of the notes and can't seem to find the
info I'm looking for. From 2-2 / 2-9 I'll be staying
with friends in the town of Clewiston, Fla. This is
about 30 minutes south of the West Palm airport. Although,
I'll be out fishing most mornings... I'm also bringing
the clubs and plan on palying as much as possible. My friends
place is a mile from Roland Martin's Marina so, if anyone
could point me in the right direction to play some courses
in that neck of the woods I'd be grateful.

 Thanks!

    Dave,

Palm Beach is FULL of courses. Just buy any golf magazine and you'll
    get a lot of names.

My in-laws live in West Palm Beach, but they belong to a club, and
that is the only course I have played there.

I remember seeing one course in Okeechobee (sp?) Blvd. which borders
the airport, built by either Niklaus or Palmer which is public and
    high-rated. Don't remember the name.

There is also a PGA course in Palm Beach.

As I said you won't have trouble finding course. Tee times (and
fees!) may be another thing, winter birds abound.

There is a new course in Palm Beach called Emerald Dunes, a Tom Fazio course
which is being touted as one of the best public courses in the country. I know
a few people who played there this winter, and they said it was one of the
hardest and nicest courses they had played in a while. They also said it was
in as good shape as any privated club. Unfortunately, I think that it is VERY
expensive, as in over $100. So if you really want a great course, you can give
it a try.
