1599.0. "To TOPFLITE or not to TOPFLITE" by MAIL::SCHULZ () Fri Oct 09 1992 19:47

Has anyone who has used balata balls or soft surlyns like DT's tried
the new TOPFLITES. Are they as soft as the adds show?

I find the TOPFLITES TOUR 100 have much more spin than any of the
surlyn cover balls, but not as much as the balata balls. As far as
being soft, I still find the TOPFLITES much harder. You can really
tell when putting, the balata is much softer. But still the new
Topflites are good balls if your looking for durability and distance
with good feel and spin. If you want to try a great ball, spend the
extra $10 and get the Maxfli HT's.

I've played the new Topflites (tour plus 90's) all year and I love
them. They feel much softer than the old ones (putting) and seem to
respond with more spin on short pitch shots. Also, the distance on
full shots is still good. I never played much with DT's or balata,
but the new topflites are much better than the old ones.

P.S. I believe the cover material is called Zylin.

I think the new Top Flites and Tour Editions are the best new balls of
    their type that I've hit.

    Hi,

Anyone tried the Maxfli CD's. This is a surlyn takeoff of the Maxfli
HT's. I have some now but won't be able to try them until spring.

    Thanks,
