1516.0. "INEXPENSIVE GOLF???" by SALEM::ROGERS_G (GORDI) Tue May 05 1992 10:34

        I recently joined a country club in Pembroke, N.H. and thought that
    I would share with the rest of you golfers. The name of the club is
    Plausawa Valley Country Club, it is a par 72. The front nine is wide
    open but challenging. The back nine is three years old and they cut it
    out of the woods. Very tight with very challenging holes. If I remember
    correctly the slope rating is 131 from the whites and 137 from the blues.
    The reason I thought I would add this note is that the club has a
    special on Mondays. You can play the course for two for the price of
    one. Green fees are $16 so you can play for $8!!!!! It is recommended
    that you get off before 1:00 so that can make the turn before their
    league starts. For those of you that don't know Pembroke, the course is
    approximately 5 miles south of Concord right off of route 3/28. Enjoy.

1516.1thanx for the tipAKOCOA::BREENBill Breen Ako2-3 244-7984Wed May 06 1992 20:129
    thanks for the tip gordi. I recall seeing the course in my travels
    with my wife and son in search of horse shows and horse flesh of which
    that area is well supplied. The course can be seen I recall from 3 and
    looks like an excellent course and gets a fair amount of play on
    weekends.

    What is their weekend end rates by the way?

1516.2GOOD RATES...SALEM::ROGERS_GGORDIThu May 07 1992 11:5810
         Bill, not sure what the weekend rates are but I will check for
    you. I joined a family membership so haven't really checked out the
    green fees but I will. I figure the membership was the better deal for
    me with 4 kids, my wife and myself. ($900)....but there is a one time
    initiation fee of $475. They also allow you spread the initiation fee
    over the first three years and they also let you pay your membership on
    a monthly basis if you desire. The membership also includes an olympic
    size swimming pool. There is a driving range also.

    	Gordi...

    	This is a great deal! Wish there was something reasonable in
    	Southern Mass for memberships. Is the tee reserved for members
    	during certain times of the day?

         Weekdays is $16 for Tuesday-Friday; Mondays is two for one and boy
    was it crowded last Monday; nice day brought all the hackers out.
    Weekends are $22 with tee times needed. No one under 12 allowed out on
    the course before noon on weekends. Other than that I didn't see any
    other rules. Carts are $20 and I recommend them on the back. The front
    is pretty flat but the back has some pretty crucial hills that will
    make you wish you took a cart. It is not a Sugarloaf but it will give
    the legs a workout.
