No, there are new shirts again this year.

This year the tournament is using LaMode as the vendor for the shirts,
they will be priced at $19.00. They are 100% Cotton.

You still need Navy Blue bottoms. You may provide your own or you can
purchase them thru the tournament office. Pants only for men. Women may
choose slacks, golf shorts or skirts. ***NO JEANS PLEASE***.

If you have volunteered in the past you should be receiving a letter
from the tournament office in the next couple of weeks. There will also
be an application provided with the letter.

1475.892 DEC SENIORS CLASSIC - INFOROCK::SMITHWed Jul 01 1992 16:0329

I am planning on requesting some of the free tickets offered
thru employee activities. I will not be able to attend until
the weekend but I will be giving a couple tickets to family
and a friend. The note a saw about the tickets says that you
get coupons which are exchanged at the gate for a daily ticket.
It also mentions about the rules for using them:
"These coupons are for Digital employees and thier guests only.
These coupons are not be be sold."

My question is do I have to be there with a badge for the coupons
to be exchanged for tickets. I will not be able to go to the
Pro-Am or Fridays round. I am not selling them but want them
to be able to be used without my presence. If necessary tickets
can probably be bought thru normal methods but I would like to
take advantage of being a Digital Employee while also "doing the
right thing" interms of giving them to guests.

Also the sign I saw said that you can get 4 coupons per employee.
Is that 4 days worth or 4 sets for all 5 days?

So if anyone knows how the coupons are are exchanged I would
    appreciate any further info.

    Thanks,
    Mike

PS there was no number or dtn to call for info on the sign posted.

1475.9Answers to .-1CHIRPA::DENNINGMon Jul 06 1992 17:1613
The coupons are "exchange" coupons. You hand them in at the gate and
they will give you a GROUNDS PASS good for that day of play.

The coupons can be used by anyone. There is no checking of DEC Badges
because there is no way to know where the passes came from.

As for Employee Activities position on getting coupons and giving them
to non Digital people I do not know.

The each coupon is good for one daily pass.

I have some questions on viewing the classic as a spectator. My father
will be attending, and I'd like to get the following information for
    him.

-- Who will be playing in this year's tournament?

-- What are the best days to attend? Pro-Am or the actual
    	   tournament?

-- What are best holes to view? Will he be able to roam the
whole course, or are you restricted to certain areas?

-- What is the best time to arrive, where to park, etc...

-- Any other information would be appreciated.

    							Thanks...

Re: -.1

-- What are the best days to attend? Pro-Am or the actual
    	   tournament?

You see more pros in a shorter period of time on tournament days,
Fri, Sat, & Sun. On Sunday the last couple groups with the leaders
have good size galleries. If you want to see the "name" golfers
Friday is probably best because they have tee time distributed
	throughout the day.

-- What are best holes to view? Will he be able to roam the
whole course, or are you restricted to certain areas?

Well you are restricted to stay outside the ropes! There are
sides of holes that are blocked off because of the terrain, but only
a couple come to mind. The front nine has a lot of parallel holes and
is easy to hop from group to group. The bleachers on 17 & 16
are pretty good spots to park it and watch golfers.

If you are following a group of golfers there are some spots where
it's tough to follow along like the ninth hole to the tenth tee.
There's also a brook around the 15th tee & 16th green. So if
you are following a group get to the left hand side of 16 right after
their tee shots! Otherwise, you may not be able to cross when you
want & get separated. The only other place that is fun is
the crisscrossing of groups going from 7->8, 10->11 & 17->18
it certainly was fun trying to get the golfers thru there the
year I was a walking marshall!

-- What is the best time to arrive, where to park, etc...

Depends on what you want to see. For a real full day, get there
early, hit the vantage tent before the lines get long. Then
follow the early groups to get a feel for the course. Then when
watching a tournament I like to find a group, follow them for a
while, find a good place to stop, let a couple groups play
through & then pick up someone else I want to see...At the seniors
though I'm a marshall...I like to get stuck in a fairway, see lots
of approach shots & especially watch them recover when they hit
	one ugly outside the ropes.

-- Any other information would be appreciated.

Tee times are printed in that morning's paper...Or buy a pairing sheet
when you arrive on the grounds...Hope that helps.

	Larry

PS:	Bring binoculars...From some high ground you can then watch the
group right in front of you, those approaching, & those near by too!

Saturday & Sunday pairings are as a result of the standings at the end of the
prior day. (If I could tell you them now I could make some serious money!)
They said that the first groups will tee off about 10:15 in the morning. The
listing will be in the paper. The tournament will be on TV from ~5:00-7:00
so you know the leaders will be on the back nine during that time.

Good thing her face was not visible on the news, as it was a "classic"

Wish my experience were so pleasurable. I got to the course at 4:00 Friday
afternoon and was forced to park around 2 miles away. They collected my $5.00
but then wouldn't let me on the bus without a ticket (this was the third bus by
- the first two ignored the people waiting and went back empty). Thankfully,
someone leaving gave me her ticket. When I got to the 15th hole (where the bus
was dropping people off), no one knew where to exchange passes for tickets, but
they wouldn't let me in with passes. Thankfully I had the ticket and went
right in.

The golf was nice, but it took me over an hour to get there and in so I only
caught the last 2 groups on the last 2 holes. At least Jim Ferree made it
interesting by almost aceing 17.

I personally enjoyed the event. My father-in-law and I
went Wednesday and was fortunate to watch Gary Player warm
up and go through his drills. We wound up following Gary
for all 18 holes. The crowds were small, so it wasn't any
problem watching him go through his pre-shot routines.

The four amateurs playing with Gary got lots of tips and advice,
even when they didn't want it !! Needless to say, it was
unnerving at times. In all, it was good to watch a fundamentally
sound player like Gary make a variety of shots. I also admired his
composure and golf etiquette, a great role model for young
	players.

My wife and I went on Saturday afternoon to watch the leaders.
She enjoyed it a lot more than she thought she would. She
certainly appreciated the tremendous accuracy of the shot
	making.

Overall, I thought the event was well organized. I appreciate
the fact they don't allow cameras or coolers. Although, I
wish they'd provide some water fountains for the general
public. I had no problem parking near the course Wednesday
	or Saturday.

I definitely plan to go next year.

From: U.S. News LIVE WIRE (24-Sept)

Digital withdrawing as title sponsor of annual Seniors golf tournament

Digital plans to withdraw as the title sponsor of the annual Digital Seniors
Golf Classic beginning with the 1993 tournament. The company has sponsored
the PGA Senior Tour event, which is held at Nashawtuc Country Club in
  Concord, Mass., since 1981.

The company decided to withdraw as title sponsor after closely examining
its business priorities. However, Digital has indicated that it will
continue to be associated with the tournament in other capacities. The
company also indicated that it will assist Nashawtuc Charities, Inc.,
organizer of the event, in acquiring a new title sponsor.

The 1993 tournament dates of Aug. 2-8 have already been established by the
Senior PGA Tour, and it is again scheduled to be nationally televised on ESPN.
