I've been to the Golf Expo for the last two years, but have decided not
to go this year. Basically the show has the following:

-Booths set up by various vendors selling the latest putter, ball,
    gizmo, etc. Not very interesting.

-Some booths by custom club builders. This could be useful for those
thinking of having clubs made for them, but not very useful for those
of you who build your own clubs. These guys are very protective of
their turf and most did not want to talk shop.

-A "Pro Shop" that sold most equipment at or near full retail price (it
    was no bargain).

-Booths for some of the area golf schools, resort courses (for New
England and the Carolinas, and some for new courses trying to sign up
    new members.

-Stage for headliner demos. Try getting a schedule of who/when these
will happen before you go, since it only takes no more than an hour to
    see all the booths.

If you're into entering getaway contests, getting on mailing lists, and
getting brochures then it's ok. But for the money, I choose to pass
    this year.

.2 stated my EXACT feelings!! It was interesting to see all the
stuff..but nary a bargain in the house!! One shoe booth was selling
damaged or defective shoes for a fair price.....but I'm not sure it
    would be considered a bargain!!!

echoing what .2 and .3 said, i think the thing is a waste of time.
if it was free, maybe, but i can't see paying money to get a chance
to buy at retail and sign up to win 'trips' (thinly disguised
mailing list gatherers). i still am getting mail about myrtle beach
    from last years!

save your money and watch golf on tee vee or go to the driving range
    or putt on the carpet!

Jan Stevenson was at the Golf Show. She wore Black Leather Pants
and high heels. Definitely not your typical golfing outfit. My
wife took pictures of her trying out an exercise machine in one of the
booths. We watched about 15 minutes of her show. The accoustics
were so bad, that I got a headache listening.
