1460.0. "California courses...etc" by WCCLUB::BROWNRJ () Mon Feb 24 1992 03:09

    I'm from NY and in Calif. for training. I am in Mountain View. My
    desire is to play a "scenic" course. I here PASATIEMPO might be what
    I'm looking for. (re: 72.2)
    My problem is I know nothing about the this area. Can anyone help me?
    I guess my questions are:

    	1. Are there any other courses I should know about?
    	2. Can anyone help with details? (acessability, greens fees...etc)

    						Thanks RJ

1460.1Calif Golf CoursesPCAE::FITTERMANMon Feb 24 1992 11:4013
    I was out in Calif. last year and played 5 times in 7 days. We played
    Half Moon Bay (which isn't all that far from where you are) and it was
    really beautiful. Pasa Tiempo is very nice as well. If you can afford
    it, I would take a drive out to Monteray and play Spanish Bay. It is
    the lesser known of the Pebble Beach courses and every bit is tough.
    It does cost 110 dollars but is very very scenic and worth it once!!!
    You could also go play poppy hills which is also in that area. The
    pros play the Crosby there now and it is public.

    Good luck,

    Mike.

Hi,

You can play the Santa Clara Golf & Tennis course. It's usually VERY windy but
a pretty decent track to knock it around on.

Pasa Tiempo is loads of fun...

I'd second the motion for Poppy Hills. A Great course that gave me pleasure to
see the pro's shoot high numbers on...I thought it was just me!

For a cheap, shabby, but scenic course, you could play Lincold Park in The City.
(San Francisco).

There are also courses right in Sunnyvale/Mt. View.

Have a ball,

Donald

    Try CHABOT LAKES in Oakland Hills......

    A REALLY nice course with a great view of the ENTIRE bay.

    Also a par 6 @ 660 yards.

    Just a point of interest, The NCGA had the Lake Chabot g.c. change the
    par 6 to a par 5 last year. Lots of fun to play though with many
    opportunities to hit cars as they crisscross several of the fairways.

    Has anyone played the newly opened PELICAN POINT course just North of
    (my home) Laguna Beach? I've looked it over but can't come up with the
    $125.00.
