1402.0. "Big Bertha Knock-Off?" by CUPTAY::BAKER () Tue Dec 10 1991 12:22

    I just recently saw a knock-off of the Calaway Big Bertha and the
    Calaway irons. They carry the name Trinity. Does anyone know who makes
    them? Are they any good?

    One of my suppliers has clones of the Callaway clubheads. They call them
    Trident. I've been happy with other clubheads that I've bought from them.
    I can build these with whatever shaft pattern/grip style you want.
    Send me mail if interested.

1402.3Founders Goes "BIG..."MRKTNG::VARLEYWed Feb 05 1992 12:247
     Don't know if this belongs here, but I believe Founders introduced a
    Big Bertha type club recently at the national PGA show in Florida.
    According to my pal (Who was there), the club was a huge success. I
    know Lanny Wadkins has signed up, and I'll furnish the names of others
    using Founders as soon as I hear from my source...

    I understand that the guy who started Founder's is the guy who started
    or designed Taylor Made. He was prohibited from competing for a few
    years and is now out there in the market. Any other tidbits would be
    of interest.

     You're exactly right, SCD. If you want some brochures, I'll call my
    pal "The Groundhog," who is their "Rep." Please note that this is not
    an offer to send every golf junkie in the world literature, but for "Mi
    amigo, the Dandy," I'll do it. I'll let the rest of y'all know what's
    new with Founders - in fact, I'll probably get a set myself this year.
    They come standard with the hot, new Royal composite grip.

    Jack, Send away. I am @ IVO. Sounds like this could be the best of
    what Callaway and Taylor have to offer. Plus I need time to condition
    my wife to another "toy" purchase. She sees me golfing with her new
    kitchen counter already.

     Lat night I was talking to a pal - former Pro - and he said "Have you
    seen 'Fat Eddie' ?" I guess it's Langert's answer to the Bertha's of
    the world. Supposed to be incredible.

     I won't be able to get Founders info for a little bit, but I wrote
    myself a note to try and remember.
