1364.0. "Mizuno shoes, try them" by SCAACT::ONAKA (Born to Golf) Thu Sep 12 1991 14:20

    If anyone looking for a new pair of shoes, try Minuzo.
    First time in 20 years I bought a pair of shoes that weren't made by
    Foot-Joys. I've always went with them and practically tried all of
    their models. The last one was Dry-Joys, guaranteed to keep you dry for
    two years (cost me a bundle). Well, the sole of Dry-Joys came apart
    after 11 months of use. When I took them back to the store they game me
    (actually the factory game me) $79 credit (Ibought them for $100). They
    then recommended I go with Mizunos because they said they've gotten
    about 60 pairs of Dry-Joys back for defects but 1 pair of Mizuno for
    last 12 months! This actually cost less than Dry-Joys, it has 1 year
    guarantee to keep you dry, pre-streched uppers (they are soft &
    flexible), one-piece sole so it won't come apart like the Dry-Joys
    (they're two-piece), reinforced toes and built-in spikes made of
    ceramic/metal material guaranteed for the life of the shoes! I tried
    them on last night and it felt great in the store so I bought them and
    took them to the range. Boy, I kicked myself for not getting them
    earlier because they felt soooo good.

    I strongly recommed other noters to try them next time you're looking
    for a new pair, you'll switch.  I was a die-hard Foot-Joy user myself
    until I tried them.

    Regards,
    Hideshi

    P.S. NO, I'm not getting paid to enter this topic.

1364.1"Fishing"NEMAIL::GLASSThu Sep 12 1991 15:339
    I went for fish and chips with a Derek Wood once and the fish was
    fried.
    I had the ocassion to go for fish with Hiroshi Ikeda and the fish was
    served raw.

    Is there a moral in these two events that may be like the
    Foot-Joy/Mizuno story?

1364.2Keep the points clearCGOOA::DURNINWed Nov 27 1991 16:559

    What does your point .1 have to do with the Mizuno shoes??

    I've heard good things about the shoes but have not seen them in a
    shop up here yet.

    Keep us posted .0 on how you make out with the shoes.

    Thanks,     Jim from Canada
1364.3How are they holding upCGOOA::DURNINTue Mar 31 1992 18:1414
    Hi,

    I've just been on a trip to San Jose, CA and was looking for some
    Mizuno shoes and out of the four shops I went to, none carried these
    shoes. I could find the Dry-Joys, Goretex, and Adidas shoes but not
    the Mizuno. I believe that one of these is starting to use ceramic
    tipped spikes as well.

    How are you making out with your Mizuno shoes.... Are they still
    holding together. What type of conditions do you play in???

    Regards,

    Jim

    Never tried Mizunos, but in keeping with an America first theme....I
    recommend the Bostonians I am wearing. Godd for walking, good in wet
    and still look nice after a little polish and cleaning.

1364.5Let's stay on topicCGOOA::DURNINThu Apr 02 1992 16:2220
    Hi,

    Certainly America or North America FIRST is an interesting topic, but
    we are talking about golf shoes here!!!!!! Try another notes
    conference for that topic. I have some futher information about the
    Mizuno shoes which I will include.

    I am interested in purchasing the highest quality shoes available. I
    am looking for light shoes that will last and are waterproof. I am
    also interested in value.

    My understanding is that quality and durability is a big question mark
    in regards to both the Etonic Goretex and Footjoy DryJoys. I must also
    say that I have never purchased another brand other than FootJoy or
    Etonic and regularly go through 1 pair per year. I am a 4-6
    handicapper and have been playing for over 20 years and am 33 years
    old.

    I look forward to your constructive comments....Jim Durnin

1364.6Dryjoys ... the BESTAKOCOA::MULLINThu Apr 02 1992 16:288
    I too am a long time fan of footjoys (but the price - ouch). Last
    summer I bought a pair of dryjoys and have been very pleased with them.
    One of the additional benefits (beside keeping the feet dry) is that
    they are the lightest pair of shoes I've ever worn - they did not
    require any break-in period. Other footjoys have cut the back of my
    ankle but not these - very comfortable.

    Like everything - you get what you pay for.
1364.7Mizuno User CommentsCGOOA::DURNINThu Apr 02 1992 16:4824
    Hi,

    Here are some further comments on the Mizuno shoes that continue to
    indicate that they might be worth trying.... Now if I could only find them
    and they were competitively priced......Jim .... I have paraphrased these
    comments from someone who has been wearing these shoes for sometime
    now. Thanks to the individual who provided me with the information.

    I have only one thing to say....Try them. I've been using Foot-Joys
    ever since I started playing but these Mizuno shoes after many rounds
    seem better than any of my previous shoes. They're comfortable
    (very important, 'cause I walk), and they keep me dry (I play early in
    the morning when we have very heavy dews and also we have tons of rain
    here).

    Another thing I like about them is the spikes. I've always had trouble
    keeping my spikes from falling off or wearing off, but these spikes still
    look like new and they don't come off ( they're guaranteed for the life
    of the shoes, they said the rest of the shoes will fall apart before
    these spikes will wear off)

    Any other comments????  Regards, Jim

1364.8I need a pair...SALEM::ROGERS_GGORDIThu May 07 1992 12:085
        Jim, the shoes sound great! Where can I get them? Checked out a

    No problem finding them in FLorida, give Special Tee Golf a call at
    407-834-1900. I believe the ones your looking for are the MSX or
    something like that. They run around $89 vs $105 for the Dryjoys but
    the Dryjoys are waterproof for 2 years vs 1 year for the Mizuno.

1364.10Gave them a call.....SALEM::ROGERS_GGORDIWed May 13 1992 08:067
        Gave Special Tee a call and you are right they have the shoes but
    they don't do any shipping so I'll have to find them around this area.
    Cripes I am even having trouble finding my size in any shoe never mind
    the Mizuno. (9 wide).....

1364.11Drop me a line too!DNEAST::FREEMAN_KEVIThe Squeeky Wheel = NeglectWed May 13 1992 13:1513
    Hey Gordo, let me know if you find them as there not to be found in the
    Portland area either... save ya the trip. We'll have to get Dottie to get
    the Etonic's for us aye or was it you with the relative that works at
    the outlet. John and Rick just got one H_ll of a deal on the Etonics and
    they like the fit. I don't care much for the looks and wanted to get a
    glimps of the Mizuno's.

    Freebie,

    Glad to hear you'll be a contributing factor to Augusta's easy victory
    in the Corp Cup!!!!!!!!!! 8^)

    Ps. Note the nodes folks. 8^)

    Then try Edwin Watts they also carry them and they do ship (per their
    ads in Golf Digest every month). I don't have their ad here but you
    can check any back issue of Golf or Golf Digest or call 407-345-8451.
    If you still have a problem, and you still want the shoes maybe I can
    help you out. Give me a call and we will discuss your options DTN 353-
