1357.0. "Going to CoE?" by SCAACT::ONAKA (Born to Golf) Fri Aug 30 1991 14:29

Anyone in this notesfile going to the Circle of Excellence trip?
The courses surrounding the Resort looks fantastic.

I had to defer my trip to next year so if anyone's going there,
please let me know how it was.

    Thanks

If youare talking Palm Springs, you are talking golf in every shape and
size imaginable. The nicest course, right across the street from the
Marriott, is Desert Falls. A spectacular layout and less expensive
than others in the area. I have played many courses in the area and
can provide some input if needed.

Thanks for the offer. I'm specifically interested in the two
championship courses on the resort. As I'm writing this I'm drooling
over the brochure that came with my CoE packet that has aerial shot of
    this resort.

My wife and I have been to the Desert Springs Marriott and we really
    enjoyed the courses.

One thing to note, last October, one of the courses at the Marriott was
closed due to reseeding. In the desert, most of the courses reseed in
October. As I recall, about 70-80% of the courses were closed in
    October.

As for the 2 courses at the Marriott (Palms and Valley) they were both
excellent courses (in my opinion), not real long, but one needs to hit
    them straight.

    Hideshi,

The MArriott courses are short(Barely over 6000yds). I have had some
experience with them and they tend to treat you like they are doing you
a favor letting you play there. If you get a chance, try the Desert
Falls course (an equal to Bear Creek in Dallas) or try one of the La
Quinta course (Citrus is fun). If you have a once in a lifetime urge,
you may schedule PGA WEst ($150) where you can pretend you are playing
    the Skins or getting skinned.

    HAve fun.

Thanks for the info. Too bad I have to defer my trip until next year.
Hope next year's location has great courses! I'd like to play PGA west
sometime in the future, but since I just got back from Vegas it won't
    be soon.

    Regards,
    Hideshi

P.S. Some of the courses in Vegas was in great condition. Best shape
I've seen in 17 years I've lived there.
