| Longmeadow is one of my favorites in Mass. The front 9 is absolutely
terrific - lots of strong pr 4's. On the short 4's, pay attention -
you don't always need driver. The back 9 has a lot of strange holes.
For example, # 10 is a "Must birdie" par 5. It also has one strong par
3, and a short (# 16, I think) par three where club selection is
difficult. This is important, bacause the green is tough to putt, and
up and downs from the side of the green are murder. # 17 is a blind tee
shot on a mid length sharp dogleg left. The dogleg occurs pretty far
out, and the second shot is straight downhill to a small green.
I think the pivotal holes are the murderous par 4's on the front - #'s
1, 2, 5, 8 and 9. Don't be left on 8 (Tee faces that way), and be
careful not to "Blow" your drive right, or you're through the fairway.
I'd hit it anywhere in the fairway on 1, right center on 2 as far as
you can, right center on 5, left center on 8 and right center on 9.
This may sound too precise, but if you're in a tournament like this,
you're supposed to be a player.
Good luck,
--Jack
