1209.0. "Favorite Augusta holes" by ODIXIE::RHARRIS () Thu Apr 11 1991 11:29

    Well, as I type this, they are teeing up in Augusta. I know that
    1170. was there for people to pick their favorite golfers to win
    the the all powerful, "AUGUSTA NATIONAL". ............
    Augusta is to tournaments, as Jack Nicklaus is to golfers, as
    titleist is to golf balls, their is no superior tournament, course.
    Augusta has a mystique about it.

    So, this is to find out, which is your favorite hole at augusta.
    Mine is the par 3 155 yds #12 with ray's creek. Remember how Curtis
    flew the whole scene. You have to be a good putter to win at Augusta.

1209.13's and 5's on back nineCSC32::J_KLEINThu Apr 11 1991 22:4212

    Number 13 is probably one of the best par 5's in golf. 12 is a great
    golf hole, Nicklaus calls it the toughest hole in tournament golf.

    16 is also a terrific par 3, getting on the green is only the
    beginning, if you're on the wrong part of the green a two-putt
    is very difficult (ask Seve who has 4-putted there).

    I think the par 3's (12 and 16) and par 5's (13 and 15) on the back
    nine are the keys to winning at Augusta.

    I think the 13th (Azalea) is the most beautiful hole in the world.
    The second shot to the green is the one shot I'd love to hit more than
    any other. The green is beautifully set amongst the bunkers, the
    flowers, the tall trees and of course the stream in front of the green.
    On TV it looks great and when they get a camera behind the players
    hitting that second shot it's really good.
    Faldo and Mickelson hit lovely approaches yesterday.

    Let me cop out (as well as recap the 1st 3 notes) and cast my vote
    for..........	THE MIDDLE 5 ON THE BACK NINE. Seriously, they
    are all tough and oh so awesome just to look at.
1209.4I think its the 11th !!UFHIS::KHOWEHi Low Hi Low its off to Ski we goWed Apr 17 1991 14:126
    I think its the 11th, the one that both Scott Hoch and Ray Floyd came
    to grief on against Faldo in 89 and 90. The water at the side of the
    green still puts the shivers thru me. Pinpoint accuracy needed.
