1171.0. "COURSES in CO, UT, ID, Wyoming" by SAC::HOBBS2 (Back from downunder) Thu Feb 28 1991 11:50

I am contemplating a holiday to the US. Our plans centre around flying to
Denver and then driving a loop across to Salt Lake, up to Yellowstone, then
across to Devils Tower and Mt Rushmore before returning to Denver. And
before you ask, yes I like driving...

Can anyone recommend good courses or a book that would list the courses in this
area. If its a book an address and price info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Lilian

1171.1A few suggestionsCSC32::J_KLEINThu Feb 28 1991 23:3126

In the Denver area, you must play Arrowhead. It's in Littleton which is
just south-west of Denver. It's a very scenic course that plays thru
beautiful rock formations. It's $50 (includes cart) which is expensive,
but worth it. Arrowhead is in the 'top 75' public courses in the US as
listed by Golf Digest. Phone number is (303) 973-4076.

Just north of Denver is Riverdale. Play the Dunes course, a Pete Dye
course listed in the top 25. Phone: (303) 659-6700.

If you're going to Yellowstone, you should drive thru (and spend some
time in) Grand Teton National park, which borders Yellowstone on the
south. The town of Jackson is just south of the Tetons. Play Jackson
Hole, a beatiful course with the majestic Teton mountains as a
backdrop. Listed in the top 25. Phone (307) 733-3111.

Sounds like a nice trip. Personally, I would try to go up to Glacier
Park in Montana, and perhaps skip Mt Rushmore.

While you are in Jackson, Wyoming stop at the Million Dollar Cowboy
Bar. It's a very interesting western bar with real saddles in place
    of bar stools.

Enjoy the beautiful, and unique American West!

                           -Joe

Lillian, no I can't recommend any courses, but I wish I
was there with you - sounds like a great trip and I love
to drive also, but not as much as I love to play golf.
    Good luck and drive safely.

1171.4Can U Check if a Town has a Golf Course PleaseSAC::HOBBS2Back from downunderMon Mar 25 1991 11:1911
Well I now have a list of place sthat I want to visit and thanks to Joe's
excellent suggestions already pencilled those in.

Does anyone out there have a list of all the Golf Courses in the US?

Would you be prepared to look up and see if a couple of towns have courses
for me. If so, please could you send mail to HAMPS::HOBBS_L and I will
send back the 4 towns. I only have access to list of golf courses in Europe.

Thanks in advance,
Lilian

As soon as the snow melts, you should try Jeremy Ranch just outside of
Park City, east of Salt Lake. The seniors have a stop there in August.
    Quite a beautiful course.
