1116.0. "Fairway, I mean farewell, ah... I mean...!" by MSEE::KELLEY (Golf club gift certificates for Xmas) Thu Nov 29 1990 15:36

	Well..............

Golf notes needs a new home...!

It has been a true pleasure moderating this conference for the
past 3+ years, but everything has to end some time... :-( I will
be leaving DEC at the end of the year (to join the tour ;-) ;-)
	;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)....) It
has been a great pleasure reading and writing to this conference
and it has been great to meet so many of you at the various tourneys.
I will miss all of this...but I am over due for a change...

Any ways as stated above the conference needs a new home and someone
to moderate it at its new home. If anyone has a home for it please
	contact me.

	Regards
	Gene

	Gene,

What can I say, but you'll be missed. Thanks for the good job you've
done moderating this file. I know I'll certainly miss your knowledge
as a club maker, love of the game, and of course those periodic for
	sale adds.

May all your rounds be sunny,
may the wind be always at your back,
May all your drives be long,
	  and all your putts gimmes

You will be missed. Thanks for all your efforts over the past two
years. Even though we never met, I feel like I've known you personally
for years. We had some fun talking club-making and golf in general.
I'll also miss those "clearence sales". Looks like you could live off
the revenue for a while if you just sold everything in your basement.

In any event, best of luck to you and as they say "thanks for the
    moderating"

full time? Join me in Texas for some warm weather golf anytime.

Jeezuz, you've got to be kidding, Gene. Is nothing sacred? Wherever
you're going, whatever you're doing, I hope it's worth the pain and
suffering you're leaving behind. I thought Moderator was a lifetime
appointment--like a seat on the supreme court.

And to think...I had the pleasure of a round with you, but never got
the chance to pick your pockets. That's the cruelest disappointment of
all!

Good luck, Gene. If you ever get down to play the new course at
Sterling, give me a ring (368-0061). So at least one wrong can be
righted.

It is always sad to learn that someone who has done so much for
    DEC-golf is leaving.

You have done an enourmous job moderating, arranging and mediating
this conference, whoever takes the conference is going to have a hard
    time filling in your shoes.

And all those tournaments, also showed a lot of dedication. I had a
great time on every single one.

So Good luck and hit 'em good!!!!

    	Jim,

I will get somebody from the Hoodkroft league to run the 1991
league tourney (don't know who yet).

Which brings up another opening... Would anybody like to volunteer
to take over the overseeing of the league tourney that I started
up two years ago? I would like to see it continue and hopefully
expand, but it needs somebody to help drive it and to help ensure
that things run smoothly... Any volunteers...?

Listen, you part timer! You can't leave without our permission. As
the earlier notes stated, this is a lifetime position and only we can
    allow you to leave.

I just checked with everyone and it's OK. You can leave but you must
log into your wife's account once per year in April to give us your
silly prediction on who will win the Masters (1991, let em guess,
    Zinger).
Seriously, best of luck and I'll be sure to call you for CC III so
you can help me lose our annual $30 in side bets!! Stay in touch.

    Larry,

I knew Gene when... His handicap was high (for him) when he took
over as moderator. When it went down it was just a "market adjustment"
Of course I'm sure that even now it's higher than it will be next year

I just learned today that Gene has found a different work home; I
can only add to the chorus that both this conference and the
company will miss him. It's been a pleasure knowing Gene, from
the old league at Amherst to a few GOLF.NOTE ventures to a few
rounds here and there in the soggy northeast. Best wishes to
       him.
