972.0. "Junior Golf clubs?" by SHARE::MCGRATH () Fri Jun 15 1990 15:05

       We have an 8 year old nephew who likes golf. We want to buy
    him a set of used junior golf clubs. Is there just one size?
    How much can we expect to pay and where can we find some for
    sale. Pro shop? Does anyone have a set they want to sell? We
    looked in the want ad without any luck.
    Thanks in Advance
    Joel

    Another option is to get a set of used clubs and have them cut down to
    size... Some of the discount shops do carry junior sets, I don't know
    what they get for them.

        Joel,

               New England Golf Supply has junior sets. When I was looking
    around for them (5 months ago), I stopped in. They had 2 sizes. One
    was for the typical 5-8 year old child and the other for a typical
    9-12 year old.
     The set consisted of a metal wood driver, 5 iron, 7 iron, 9 iron
    and a putter. A bag was included. The price was around $75.00 for the
    younger set and about $100.00 for the older set.

     Hope this helps.

972.3Try Target StoresLABC::MCCLUSKYSat Jun 16 1990 01:047
    Last year, I bought my seven year-old a set with a metal wood (2-1/2),
    5, 7, 9 irons and a putter, with a bag at the Target store for $59.
    They are just about the right size this year. They had sizes for the
    typical 5-8 and 9-12 year olds as the previous note suggested. Since
    Target is Minnesota based, do you have stores there?

      No, I have never heard of Target. Too bad, the price seems right.
    I'll call some places. I was hoping to pick up something used to see if
    the interest level would hold up and then buy a new set later.
    Thanks for the help so far

    Joel, Austads has a set of junior culbs for 32.00. I'm thinking about
    getting my grandson a set and seen the set just today. It comes with a
    5,7 9, wood, putter, bag, and something else I can't remember. The
    price seems right, of course you pay the shipping but that not much.

I bought the junior clubs for my daughter, and I am very happy with them. The
clubs are good quality and will last here for a few years.
