Len, I think played that course once and your fears are well founded. I only
lasted seven holes before I ran for my life. If I remember correctly I
was standing on a tee and about 35 to 50 yrds behind me and only about
twenty yrds to the right was another foursome teeing off. I thought to
myself, this is absolutly rediculous I could be killed. The fairways,
if memory serves me were very, very thin. One fairway I hit dead center
and both the right and left sides of the ball were in the rough. Now
thats tight.

I play at Litchfield in the DEC league. And I don't know of any
situation like the one you described. Granted there are tees
close together, but in order for you to be in any danger the
guy teeing off will have to hit the ball 90 degrees off his mark.
Personally I like a course which is open like Litchfield. I don't
know how many times while playing at Amherst while hitting the
ball over trees, then when I get to my ball only to find out that
there was a group of players there. With an open field at least
you can seel the people you're going to hit 8*) 8*). My golf
partner got hit in the head last year at Amherst. We were standing
on the 10th tee and someone was hitting his 2nd shot on the 15th.
The tee is blocked by treesso he couldn't see us and we couldn't
see him. If we had known he was there and hitting his ball we would
be watching for him.

I also play in the DEC league at Pasaconoway (Litchfield), I have yet
to see any situations that were dangerouse, sure some fairways are
close together, but so far I have not seen or heard of anything
happening.
I also feel that the course is "decpetively tight", off the tee
everything looks open, but the fairways are narrow and are lined with
mounds, not fun to play off. Also the greens are set up as to greatly
give an advantage to an incoming shot from the fairway. From the
rough you usually need to carry a bunker or some other problem, and
since it is usually "breezy" there, this is not the ideal approach.
Overall I like the course, some tough driving holes and a fairly nice
layout. I do however think they should have forgotten the development
land and put some of the holes over there.
