       Have you checked your alignment? Make sure that your shoulders
    and hips aren't too open in relation to the spot that you picked
    as the target. The tendency is to open up too much on the short
    irons, causing you to cut across the ball which means pull-city
    usually. Good luck. You may get a lot of advice in here, but the
    best thing you can do, is have a pro or low handicapper watch your
    swing and give you tips based on what they see.

945.2club path = shoulder alignment....WOODRO::GORDONThu May 17 1990 12:383
    .1 is correct as the swing path usually will follow the shoulder
    alignment....your clubhead may be aimed correctly but the
    hips/shoulders are what really count....

    line your clubhead up first then take your stance!!!!

    There is a great article in the latest GOLF Magazine about this. The
    suggestion is to move to 4 wedges and vary the swing depending on the
    distance to the pin. Haven't tried the technique, but will start
    practicing (with three wedges) this week.
945.5I was taught something similarLDPDT5::BENNETTJohn BennettThu May 17 1990 14:2014
    In the lessons that I took over the past couple of years, I was taught
    a variant of this for pitching. He called it the 4x4x4x4 model, using
    4 clubs (8I, 9I, PW, SW), 4 grips (normal, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4) on the grip),
    4 stances (normal, leftfoot back 1/4, 1/2, 3/4) and 4 swings
    (1/4, 1/2, 3/4, full). Although it sounds complicated, the results
    is that you use the 1/4 selections for 15-20yard pitches, 1/2 for
    30-40yards, 3/4 for 45-60 and full for 60-80 yards. It has
    helped me be alot more consistent in choosing clubs, grip, stance and
    swing for different length pitches.

    Of course, I have to judge the distance correctly, too!

945.6tx...close it up a little...BSS::PONDThu May 24 1990 18:369
    WELL you guys where right...I realign my stand not as far and it
    straight the shot.

    The 4x4x4 is a little to confusing for me...you need a measuring
    stick to use that system, but I do believe you need 3 wedges.
