926.0. "N. TEXAS GOLF HELP" by DPDMAI::VENEZIO () Fri Apr 20 1990 17:23

    I just relocated to the Dallas Ft. Worth area and would be interested
    in getting to know a little about club membership here.

    I have been a club member for the past 15 years ( give or take a few
    off years) at 4 different clubs and am considering a membership here.
    Can someone give me a rundown on initiation and the monthly fees I'm
    looking at. I'm probably going to live in Las Colinas and have met with
    the folks at Hackberry Creek. Work at FOO.

    You can exclude Colonial. I work for DEC.

    Can anyone recommend a course in the Dallas area? I'll be at the
    Hyatt/DFW for most of next week and might get the opportunity to play.

    Also, what's the weather like???

    Al-
      The Las Colinas course is near where you will be at. I don't
    know about access though. I think they play the Byron Nelson
    Classic there.

    You're in luck, the Hyatt/DFW has its own course!! Its called Bear
    Creek and is a true quality course. I don't know the greens fees, but
    you can play there if you are registered at the hotel. They even
    provide transportation to and from the course.

    I've played it once[my golf partner got a package as a birthday gift].

    Weather? Its in the 50s now, overcast. Last week it got as low as 15.
    Watch the fronts coming through and you can determine what it will be
    like. If you have Gortex, bring it.

    I will also be in Dallas next week for Uniforum, and plan to bring
    down my sticks, and stay an extra day to play. I have played Bear
    Creek, it's a good championship course. If I remember correctly
    green fees are around $40. If I don't find another interesting
    course I'll play it again.

    Would you be interested on joining me for a round on Friday morning?

926.7Courses in Dallas area.FACT01::MCKIEMon Mar 08 1993 17:1214
    Hi,

    I will have a few days in Dallas and am looking forward to a few rounds
    of golf.

    The two courses that I played the last time were Fossil Creek which I
    enjoyed and Bear Creek which I was disapointed in.

    Does anyone out there have any other recommendations for courses. I'm
    considering the following courses, but would be open to any ideas.

    The Ranch CC (McKinney)
    TPC at Four Seasons

    You certainly picked a few good ones. I enjoy the Ranch. Great value
    and a well conditioned track. If you have time try the Bear Creek
    course again. I think it may have been a bad time.

    The TPC is excellent. What can you say. It will set you back about $100
    and should be in great shape. They overseed and will be getting ready
    for the Byron in a few months. The newest and most exciting course is
    east of Dallas called Buffalo Creek. Brand new and already voted the
    best in Dallas and in the running for best new public course in
    America. Designed by Tom Weiskopf. Give it a try.

    Good Luck and call me if you need a fourth.

926.9Riverchase Golf ClubHABFAN::POULSENTue Mar 09 1993 16:0817
    I played a course called Riverchase last December. They had great
    greens. Thats the only course I got to play there so I don't know
    how to compare it with the other courses. I'd definitely play it again.
    Has anyone down there played it?
