912.0. "Corporate Cup Update" by MPGS::LAVNER (Top Gun) Fri Apr 06 1990 13:57

At the request of Gene I have created a new note to update everyone
concerning this years 2nd annual Corporate Cup.
After having discussed this with Gene, it has been decided to use the
same format as last year. The format will be the following:

		- 6 members selected from each sight will participate. (alternates
should be selected in case of last minute cancellations.

		- Handicaps will be tabulated using Genes program which includes
tabulating course slope. I have his program. Another words...
the same format as last year!!!

		- No two same league members play in the same foursome.

		- Prizes and awards same as last year.

		- The course location is Glen Elen CC in Millis Mass. The date
has been changed by the course to June 1. That means that
that everyone participating in this event must take a vacation
day. This is not a DIGITAL sponsored event. June 1 is a Friday.

                - I should have a rough headcount figure soon to give to the
course. I realize that most leagues are just starting up
but try to select your reps as soon as possible and send me
                  the lists.

You do have to be a member of a DEC league and I think that you
have to be a DEC employee to be a member of a DEC league (atleast
the leagues that I am familiar with)...

Bob, Glen Ellen has no record of a Digital Tournament, or any
    tournament, on June 1.

One of our team members did some scouting last weekend at Glen Ellen
    and reported back.

    Jim,

I booked the date and we are playing June 1st !! I don't
know who your buddy talked to but I have given them a deposit
and received written confirmation. The original date was for
June 29th and we had to reschedule because They had a previous
booking. The date may not have been updated in the pro shop
calender. I have since called and made sure and we are on for
    the 1st!
I am the tournament committee chairman for the DEC SHR Golf League.
I booked this event some time ago. If there are any other plants
interested in this tournament, please get in touch with Bob Lavner
@ dtn 237-3786 or send mail to MPGS::LAVNER.

        Bob,

Are you going to provide us with a course description like the one
that Gene (thanks) gave us last year? If you could send me a card
etc. with the course layout on it I could have it digitized on
VAXCAMERA and post/mail the image. My mail stop is ASO/4VV. And
if the sky were the limit, it would be nice to have a video tape
	of it 8^)

Thanks for checking. Dick Slade, the guy who showed up a day late last
year at Charmingfare, was in the area visiting. He decided to play
golf at Glen Ellen and check at the PRO SHOP for June 1. They looked
at him and said "Huh ? We got no stinking tournament that day!"

Anyway, thanks for checking..By the way, this year the Augusta team
will be myself, Gordi Rogers, Kevin Freeman, Larry Zayac, Sam Hawkes
    and Dick Slade.

    See you in June !

So far there are only 4 teams signed up for this years DECCUP. Gene's league,
Augusta, the STOW league and SHR. Anyone who is interested in playing this year
needs to contact me and be paid in full by Friday, May 11th. I have to pay
Glen Elen by the 19th of May. I need six players from each sight along with
handicaps, course slope and $45.00/pp. SHR has already paid $200.00 out of their
own pockets to hold the course for this event. If there is not enough interest
then we would like to get our money back. Please send money to:

How about some directions? Tee times? Groupings? A brief description

Gene Kelley's league from Derry were champs this year. The defending
champions from last year (Shrewsbury) finished second.

Low Gross(78) - Mike Carbone (in a tie-breaker with Gene Kelley)
Low Net - Mike Segabarth (is that right Gene?)
      Long Drive - Mike Longchamps
Closest to the pin - Jim Stevens

All in all in was a good time. The weather was great. We played
at Glen Ellen in Millis. A definate challenge for those who got
to play it for the first time.

I was fortunate enough to play with Jim Stevens, Mike Longchamps
and Mike Carbone. Even though I was scuffling it, they made the
    day very enjoyable. Thanks guys!

Maybe Bob can come in here with the full results.

Thanks Bob for a fine tourney and the great weather...!

We were fortuneate to be the best team for this day...! It was
great... As was the case last year when Shewsbury won, the low
net and low gross were both won by members of the winning team...!

Plans are allready being made for next years event. We would
love to hear from some more leagues in the New England area that
would like to participate in next years event. If your league is
interested in playing please contact me (this includes those leagues
that played this year also). I would like to try to beat the rush
and get a date confirmed with the course (which ever one it ends up
being) this year. So, let's hear from "ALL" the leagues out
    	there...!

Bob, great time.......My best shot was the one that counted....

I'd like to encourage people in other leagues that did not play to
contact Gene for next year. You don't need to be a league officer
or anything like that. You don't even have to organize your leagues
participation. If you acted as a contact for Gene and informed your
league officials, that would be great...

Besides, we need some more competition for 5th....

912.23CORRECTION ON LOW GROSS!!!!!!DECSVC::CARBONEWed Jun 06 1990 14:3818
I have discovered a scoring error on my part that will affect the
low gross winner. After the round I adjusted a score for the 16th
hole but in my mind I was going over the shots for the 17th hole.
I guess by this time my mind was mush!! Anyways...the results are
that my score was actually a 79 and this makes Gene Kelley the low
    gross winner. Congratulations Gene!!!

Gene, I will see you this afternoon and give you the prize. Sorry
for the mixup but it was totally unintentional.

Anyways,, I'd like to thank Bob for a great day, weather couldn't
have been better and the course was great. I hope we see some more
leagues in next years tourney, it's really a great time. I'd also
like to thank Mike Longchamps, Rick Blaisdell and Jim Stevens for
a great round of golf, it was fun!!!
