770.0. "Jake Trout & the Flounders" by KOOZEE::WARFIELD (Gone Golfing) Fri Sep 22 1989 21:48

While you were all at Pleasant Valley did anyone happen to buy the cassette
tape by Jake Trout & the Flounders (AKA. Peter Jacobsen, Mark Lye, Payne
Stewart). I did because I had read about their hit tune Slow Play. The
album is great. The lyrics are good, often funny. The music isn't bad either.

Oh come on Larry! I heard it (Slow Play) on the Golf Show last
night. They were horrible! But they were funny I gotta give them
that much! At least the Bears had rythem!

Jake and Co. must sound better on record than they sound live.
I saw them do a number (they were performing at the Fred Meyer
Challenge) and they were quite awful, what we call a "celebrity
turn." That is, as sports celebrities they are allowed to do things
ordinary folk like us would never be allowed to do. Like sing juvenile
song parodies, in public, and out of key. None of them should quit
    their day jobs.

After Payne Stewart's attempts at 18 on Sunday; ie. drive in water,
3 attempts to get out, I think he's got the right name for a pop
    group!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been able to listen to a tape of Jake Trout and found it
to be enjoyable. While I didn't all the songs, generally, the music
was fine and the songs were often funny.
