598.0. ""DREAMS FROM A GOLFING VACATION LIVE ON!"" by USMFG::TGLASS () Wed May 03 1989 17:13

Well, just got back from my annual visit to South Carolina and it
was wonderful! We spent over 14 days there and played nearly everyday.

    Trip highlights were:
1.Watching a 67 year old Billie Joe Patton play to a 77 on the great
new Prestwick course which is a DYE & DYE layout( those over 40
will remember Billie Joe as a very high finishing amateur in quite
a few Masters in the early 50"s).

2.Playing Prestwick and Pawley's Plantation( a Nicklaus course)
with my course pro, Dick Roberge.

    3.Seeing hi 80's and lo 90's nearly everyday for over a week(i.e.
      temperature and not golf scores).

4.Having some great family foursomes and wife matches at our home
      course.

5.Playing Herron point with a former New York Yankee pitcher from
      my era!

Now I may even be ready to play here in New England again!

Was it Ralph Terry - followed him and Brodie at 87 Seniors

I remember Billy Joe Patton well.

The Yankee pitcher was Art Ditmar who now is retired in S.C.
By no means can I play with a Ralph Terry!!!!!

    Kept you thinking anyway.

Well, I'm going to miss these notes for the next couple of weeks
as I am off on vacation till the 17th!!! Shall be golfing my way
up California, Oregon, Washington, and maybe even a chance in Canada.
Should return with some interesting stories and Hair-raising tales
of double-bogies saved. So, keep it in the short grass and make
sure you only have 14 clubs in your bag.(it might be a record round)
