474.0. "SANTA'S LIST" by MAMTS1::KVENEZIO () Fri Dec 16 1988 13:58

The holiday season is approaching. How about a notes file to describe
what is on your list in the way of golf gifts.

What if the sky was the limit? What would Santa bring?

I'll start by telling what I have requested.

I have asked the wife for a framed print of Jack and Arnie playing
the 16th at Augusta in '73. This was the last time Nicklaus and
Palmer were in the final pairing together at the Masters. It's a
print of a painting and I found it in a publication called Southern
    Links.

    - A new Hogan or Macgregor gore-tex rainsuit.
    - A 1953 Macgregor #945 driver, or a set of Macgregor "Ben Hogan"
    woods.
    - Darwin's "Golf in the British Isles".
    - A gore-tex rain hat.
    - 6 Foot Joy "Sta-Sof" gloves.
    - A set of Hogan "Edge" irons.

    Assuming money's no object:

I would like a lifetime member ship to the TCP in Ponte Verde FLA.
I was lucky enough to play the Stadium course last week and it was
everything it should have been. I even parred the 17'th!!

I guess that top in my list will be to move the whole New England
further south so I could still have the New England feeling and all
    year round golf.

And then after I had transformed the US:

    - A house with the backyard overlooking a championship course

Jan Stephenson would be my first choice, too. However, in absence
of such choice turf, I hightly recommend the Bobby Jones video tape
package that includes two video tapes and a book about Jones by
Chas Price. The cost is about $200-250 depending on where you
purchase. There is also a single video tape by Jones for about
$65.00. I haven't seen it. The $200+ package is absolutely marvelous.
If anyone wants details of what is included, I will be happy to
    respond.

    RE: .11 + .13

Actually 460 was SUPPOSED to be just a club wish list, this note
    was any golf items...

So, how did Santa to in the way of golf items for you all?
Santa came through for me with a golf/Disney vacation starting
Feb. 8th.....!!!!! It will be the first time to Disney and the
first time to play golf down in Florida (the count down starts,
    can't wait)...!

aluminium with a golf club and -ball on it. Not even some golf balls!

The boxes from Austaads contained an indoor putting mat and a
chipping basket (the word is out on my short game). I also picked
up a new umbrella and a dozen XL's. Not to whine, but I really
didn't want the practice aids. Who has time to practice if you
play every day from March to November?

    A pratise put returner,
    A half dozen balls,
Two, yes two golf ball retrivers, (tells you somthing about how
    							I Play around water)
and finally, a golf club car kit.

    Did okay...

Golf ball imprinter (so I don't confuse my hacked-up "apples" with
    anyone else's)

"GOLF, The History of an Obsession," a very flossy coffee-table
book, full of interesting trivia and wonderful pictures (but what's
most interesting is how one can write a history of golf from the
15th century to the present without mentioning Arnold Palmer!)

Hogan Series 56 metal driver, 12 degrees loft, #3 shaft (regular flex)

Trick golf ball that will not roll straight on putts, and explodes
on impact if hit off the tee (just what I needed)

Oversized Nicklaus putter to replace all the other putters that
    never worked right

fit. (I knew I was getting these, cause I had to get fitted for
         them! :-) )

    2. A box of Titleist (sp?) 100 compression.

    3. A putting machine and mat (forget the name).

I got just what I wanted... a coupon from my wife "allowing" me
to buy one club of my choice.
This will help pass the long Iowa winter.. research and testing
to find the perfect driver that will give me 300 yards..straight!!
