330.0. "Hitting them THIN!" by TRCO01::ROSS () Thu Jul 14 1988 12:25

I am hitting all my shots consistantly THIN.

Iron shots - I scull them or fail to get good height.
Wood shots - worm burners or 30 feet off the ground at best.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanx in advance.

Keep your eyes on the ball, watch the clubhead make contact with
the ball. You are probabaly coming up during your down-swing and
    therefore topping the shot.

You could also be swaying. Try hitting some shots with your feet
together to get the feel of being steady over the ball (if you're
not you'll fall over 8^) ). Good luck

Sounds to me like .1 had it correct. You're coming up on the
ball. By picking your head up and looking to see where the ball
is going to go, before actually hitting the ball, your left shoulder
will also come up, and you're entire left side will come up, causing
your club head to come up. Keep your head still and try and hit
    thru the ball.

When practicing I use a drill that will help keeping your head
down. I place the brand name on the back side of the ball and
"read" it on my backswing (keeps head from swaying back) and also
on my downswing, trying to see the club hit the ball. I works for
me, and I have to watch EVERYTHING. I even make love with the lights
    on.

I have been gaving consistancy problems lately myself.
I talked to the pro at Charmingfare, Rich T.. He said
that I was swinging with my arms and not my body, hence
could never develop a consistant stroke. May be your
    problem too

Thank you very much for the suggestions.

I'm heading to the driving range tonight.
    I'll try them out.

Ok I've got them in memory. Hopefully I can transfer them to success.
