227.0. ""VISIT and ENJOY" the USGA Golf House" by OURVAX::GLASS () Thu Mar 17 1988 18:11
I was very happy to be able to visit the USGA Golf House this week
and really recommend that you golfers add it to your travel plans/
agenda when in the greater New York area(the location was but 30
minutes from the Saddle Brook,N.J. Marriott and made a great lunch
time for this golfer/collector).
The highlights for me were to:
1.Visit the Bobby Jones room and view his famous putter and a complete
set of his clubs used in the "grand slam".
2.Purchase the fine USGA "THE CLUB MAKERS" reference book that is
complied by USGA staff member Janet Seagle.
3.Purchase a USGA logo ball marker.
4.See alot of great clubs and old balls and auld golfer outfits.
5.Talk with Janet about collecting and an upcoming golf sale in
Maine the week following our local U.S.Open.
The Golf House is out 80W from the Garden State Parkway and then
south on 297.It is well marked as you get into the Far Hills area.By
the looks of the grounds and trees, this would make for a great Spring
trip for the family as well as the golfer in the family. It would
not be to long of a trip from the Boston area!
