210.0. "NEED A SAND WEDGE" by MEDUSA::BARNUM () Mon Feb 29 1988 15:34

Anybody have any good tips for an all around sand wedge?

I'd like a heavy weighted club with a wide sole. I'll
probably go to several shops and hit club after club
until I find a wedge that I like. In the meantime, any
helpful information, like and dislikes about certain
        clubs would help.

    	Thanks.

I would recommend trying a Cleveland Classic Beryllium copper (sp) sand
wedge. The added weight of the copper helps get through the
ball/sand/grass. And the club sets up REAL nice.

It really depends on what you use a sand wedge for. I sometimes
carry two. One for fairway play and one for sand play. The one
I use from the fairway has a smaller flange and less weight
concentrated on the bottom. The one I use from the sand has a
bigger and more round flange with more weight at the bottom.
Both have the same amount of loft.

For fairway play I have a Wilson Staff, Jerry Pate Tour Grind and
the one I use for sand play is a Ram, Tom Watson standard.

If I leave one in the locker it is always the Ram. Both are great
clubs though. I would reccomend either for their specific purposes.
