204.0. "Anybody got any helpful hints?" by JUNIOR::MONTVILLE () Thu Feb 25 1988 16:42

I have a question for you avid winter/spring golfers here in Mass.

Besides my job here at DEC I am the Assistant Fire Chief in my home
town. There are a few fellow firefighters and police officers
that would like to do some early spring golfing down the Cape.

We are all FAIR golfers. We have the weekend of April 8,9, and
10 set aside of our little trip. What I need to know is the logistics
of putting something like this together.

We would be looking for (an most likely in this order)

    Friday- 18 holes of golf
A cost effective yet nice place to stay. ( Hotel/Motel)
            Dinner
A GOOD TIME place for 7 married men...You'll catch on!

    Saturday- 18 holes (or more)
              Same Hotel/Motel
              Dinner
A GOOD TIME place for 7 married men...catch my drift!

    Sunday- 18 holes
              check-out
              Nice Dinner joint
AND HOPEFULLY still 7 married men.

Any and all suggestions and cost related (hotel/motel fees, green
fees, dinner cost, etc..You caught on!) would be very helpful.
Also if anyone has connections and is willing to help out 8 civil
minded, respected, servants of their community with making tee times
or whatever can be assisted pleae contact me ASAP, our times is
running out to make arrangements. (As well as before my wife changes
her mind about me going..You caught my drift!)

    Regards,

YOU MAY WISH TO CHECK OUT NEW SEABURY. I'VE PLAYED THERE SEVERAL
TIMES AND FIND IT IN EXCELLENT EARLY SEASON SHAPE (BY THE WAY-THEY'RE
ALREADY OPEN). THEY ALSO HAVE AN EARLY SEASON SPECIAL. THERE ARE
2-18 HOLE COURSES. CALL 617-477-9400 AND ASK FOR ABOUT THEIR EARLY
    SEASON SPECIAL.

    Hi Bob,

New Seabury is an excellent spot but they would not accept tee
times a couple weeks ago. I played at Bay Point CC (formerly
Wareham CC) last weekend and it is in great shape. They also
were giving tee times which is important if you are driving
a long distance or spending a weekend. It is easy to get to
and the greens fees were $16. There are a couple blind tee
shots but other than that it is a challenging course.

    Good Luck, Bob.

Ocean Edge in Brewster has an excellent deal, $49 for golf, cart,
breakfast and a nights stay at a beautiful condo on the course,
it is a great course (very difficult).
