It was great, Could you imagine having one-hundred thousand dollars
riding on a putt? What pressure!
I liked it more then regular tournaments becuase you knew exaclty
where everything stood. It was simple. NO jumping to the 18th to
see Bob, and back to twelve to see John, then back to 17th... Then
trying to figure out, well if he gets two biries, then hell need
to bridie his last five plus get an eagle....

for you or me, yes. for trevino, zoeller, palmer and nicklaus,
not likely. all four of those gentlemen will not have any money
worries for the next several lifetimes. sure, 100K riding on a
putt is a big number, but i don't think any of them would (should?)
have been worring about it.
like trevino has said, putting for big money on the tour is nothing.
putting to win a $50 naussa when you've only got $10 in your pocket
is another thing entirely.
i did enjoy the show. it is nice to see several big names go
head-to-head rather than the usual tournament format. the only
thing that bugged me was that they chopped out a couple of holes
(15, 16 i think?) from the telecast, because "nothing happened"
as an announcer put it. did that happen everywhere, or was it just
done by the canadian network who showed it to us?

The format was fine; it's especially good to see someone play an
entire hole, as opposed to just the approach shot and putting. It's
also a lot more interesting to watch golfers competing head-to-head
and not in different groups.
On the other hand, the number of commercials was distracting, and
there just weren't very many golf shots shown. Also, the show
sometimes seemed more of a personality-type exhibition than a golf
exhibition.
My vote is for more match play competition on TV, with more emphasis
on the golf than on the (often forced) conversations that the golfers
are having amongst themselves.

| I think the players in the 'Skins Game' should have to put up their
own money. They could certainly afford it. The whole thing would
be much more fun if their own money was at stake.
Actually, I think I read somewhere that Lee Trevino had suggested
exactly that - it would be just like him...

Mr Litby is, I trust, at the St Andrews Training Centre, learning
escape sequences from 15-foot bunkers, mid-fairway gourse, and the
winds.

| Personally I prefer the informal chit chat that was shown. This
was one time when 4 guys (very talented golfers) went out and played
around together. Since it wasn't their money or a real PGA event
I feel they were a little looser and talked a little more than normal.
If this was a match play event I'd doubt you'd see the personalities
coming forth.
To me at least, it made the event a little more interesting. Can
you imagine Arnie's grief if Fuzzy hadn't made that last putt and
he would have tied had he not picked up? I'm probably mistaken but
it sounds like that would have been cut if you were the producer.
Would you have also cut Jack asking Arnie if he wanted to mark the
putt or finish?
Personalities and good golf ARE the skins game. That's what makes
it interesting.

Yes, the skins game was fun to watch. I agree, however, with .4
in that the players should at least put up *some* money. Also, it
seems a shame that Jack shot a 70 on that incredible course and
got nothing.

| I have to agree with .4. I think the players should put up the money
themselves. It would make the skins game a heck of lot more
interesting.
