1165.0. "KZPAA and RDD45 compatibility problem ??" by DECPRG::LUFT () Tue Apr 08 1997 07:14

    Hello,

We have a problem with KZPAA and new CD ROM RRD45.

We have received upgrade kit for AlphaServer 8400 /440 with 4 CPUs, PCI
drawer with three KZPSA's and one KZPAA. On KZPAA is just RRD45
    connected.

We cannot boot the VMS 6.2-1H3 CD ROM, it allways end up in mount
    verifications.

Under VMS we also will get a lot of mount verify errors when trying to
    use the CD ROM.

When we changed the RRD45 to old RRD42, everything works fine.

    Compatibility problem ??

We have similar problem with RRD45 with build in SCSI controller on
AlphaServer300, we fixed it by changing SCSI fast = 0. Is it possible
    also on KZPAA ?

    NO !

We have a build in unit. There is a 2m SCSI cable from KZPAA up to the
shelf, there is inside a flat SCSI cable on which is just the RRD45
connected. That's the way it's designed ( I hope ). It works fine with
    RRD42, RRD43.

But did ANYBODY tried it with RRD45 ? As I said, we've seen similar
problems with RRD45 on other systems. We cured it by changing to slow
SCSI. But it's not possible on KZPAA - as far as I know.

    any help apreciated.
