1106.0. "DE500-XA not working with Tlaser... Any ideas.." by QCAV02::PMK () Fri Feb 14 1997 09:29
Hello,
We have tried to installed DE500-XA in Tlaser 8200 with Digital Unix
3.2D-1. The ethernet card is not operating at 100Mbs at all. It
works fine with 10Mbs.
The console versions is 3.1-6
As per the following TIMA article DE500-XA is supported from DU 3.2C
itself. Is it a know problem.
Any patch is required to make DE500-XA operational on Tlaser 8200
system
Thanks inadvance and regards
P. Malakondaiah

UNIX 3.2D-1 should work fine with DE500-XA. Without knowing the
specifics of your configuration, I will offer some general
suggestions -
o Update your console to (preferably V4.8-6) or what's on the
3.8 CD. There were some problems with setting ew*0_mode with
earlier versions.
o Be sure to *always* set console envar "ew*0_mode" to what your
UTP wire is running at. Always re-init the Tlaser after making
a change to this. If you are unsure of what choices you have
at the console level just type -
P00>>> set ewa0_mode dfaasfjf ! this is garbage and the console
! will tell you what the valid
! choices are.
o Check the LEDs on the module. For operation at 100Mb, you have a
proper set-up when the "100" LED (green) and the "link" led
(yellow) are lit.
o If you do not get the correct LED configuration -
- check your cable configuration. In most cases you
require a crossover cable.
- if connected to a hub/switch, make sure that you have it
configured correctly.
- if connected point-to-point, you need a crossover cable
and you must ensure that the other node has it's console
"ew*0_mode" set correctly (remember to INIT on that one
too).
If this doesn't help, please post more info. (i.e. sho config, sho
net, sho ew*_mode), how your UTP LAN is configured, and what you
mean by "it doesn't work".
