1094.0. "UTIL_CLI how ?" by FSSB::GRONROS (Murphy is behind You all the way) Fri Feb 07 1997 07:24

    	Hi !

A new installation of a couple of AlphaServer 8400 has hit a
"minor" problem that needs a "hint" to get on the tracks again.

    	What they have is

    	TLSB
    	0++	KN7CE-AB	8014	0000	kn7ce-ab0
    	1++     KN7CE-AB        8014    0000    kn7ce-ab1
    	7+	MS7CC 5000	0000	ms7cc0
    	8+	KFTIA 2020	0C09	kftia0

    	C0 Internal PCI connected to kftia0	pci0
    	0+	ISP1020 10201077	0001	isp0
    	1+	ISP1020 10201077	0001	isp1
    	2+	DECchip 21040-AA 21011	0024	tulip0
    	4+	ISP1020 10201077	0001	isp2
    	5+	ISP1020 10201077	0001	isp3
    	6+	DECchip 21040-AA 21011 0024 tulip1

    	C1 PCI connected to kftia0 pci1
    	0+	KZPSA 81011	0000	kzpsa0
    	1+	KZPSA 81011	0000	kzpsa1
    	2+	KZPSA 81011	0000	kzpsa2
    	3+	KZPSA 81011	0000	kzpsa3
    	A+	DEC PCI FDDI	F1011	0001	pfi0
    	B+	DEC PCI FDDI	F1011	0001	pfi1

They set the ARC_ENABLE to ON and follow the "instructions" they
    	have.

    	What they get is

    	P00>>> run iso9660:[CDROM.UTILITY]UTIL_CLI.EXE -d dka400 -p 1
Invalid date. The correct date must be entered before continuing.
Please enter the date in the form yyyymmddhhmm : 199702061032
Configuration tree invalid, no eisa adapter.

How can one overcome this ?

    	Hints are welcome !

    						Regards
    						Roland

I believe the problem is the contents in the SIO's EEPROM.

What version of SRM console firmware are you running?
If you have V4.8-6 or a V4.3-3 flavor code, then there are
two new ARC commands to help clear the SIO's EEPROM.

    set mode advance
    clear_arc_nvram
    clear_srm_nvram

If you do not have any of these versions, you can hand type
    the commands in.

    for clear_arc_nvram....
    P00>>> dep eerom:0 ff -b -n 17ff

    for clear_srm_nvram....
    P00>>> dep eerom:1800 ff -b -n 7ff

Initialize the system, then try your 'run' command again.
