1076.0. "Token Ring adapter on Alphaserver 8200" by HGOVC::CHRISTSANG () Tue Jan 28 1997 09:03

    Hello,

We have a prospect who is consiering to purchase 2x Alphaserver 8200's.
The Alphaserver 8200 needs to have a Token Ring Adapter.

It is noted from the SOC (Nov.96) that the current supported Token Ring
adapter is DW300-AA, which is based on EISA bus.

The prospect inquires if we have a Token Ring adapter on the AS8200 which
    is PCI-based ?

If so, is it based on 16-bit or 32-bit PCI streaming mode ?

The prospect prefers 32-bit PCI support, if possible.

    Please advise.

    Best regards
    Chris

1076.1PBXDP-AA is the PCI replacement - but it is not yet qual'ed on the 8000sTRLIAN::mkodhcp-46128234.mko.dec.com::LailRobert G. LailTue Jan 28 1997 14:3518

	RE .0

The PBXNP-AA is the PCI replacement for the DW300-AA. The
option support database on FRODO shows it as a "future" on the 8*00
series machines. Required versions for OS are 6.2 for OpenVMS, 3.2C
for Digital UNIX, and Not Supported for Win/NT.

"Future" means there is intent to test and support an option
but the testing has not yet been scheduled, ususally due to resource
limitations. Contact the product manager for the 8200 if you want
request the schedule be accelerated.

The DW300 appears to be qualified on the AS8200, you just need a DWLPB + KFE70
