    Would having 60's on the front of my charger cause a "skip" in the
    wheel?I've replaced everything in the front end including the steering
    box.It acts like a tight steering box would,no spring to center.
               Thanks,
                     Joe
56.2 Defective Parts?COGITO::MEINERSMon Jun 24 1991 18:527
    Joe,
     I recently had a similer prob. on my 80 Camaro. I replaced all front
    parts and got an alignment. I thought they screwed it up!! Come to find
    out I had a frozen ball joint!! (defective part).
   (The prob. on your car was 2 months ago don't know if you fixed it yet)
    Mike....

    Sounds like an alignment problem - most likely too little caster.
    (Lazy return to center)

    I did the same things on my '67 RS SS 396 Camaro. Turned out to be a
    bad bearing at the top of the steering column. I had a spare tilt
    column lying around t ouse for parts. Problem solved!

    Don :)

      Does anyone have a tire height guide I could borrow?
    I need to figure out engine rpm at a given speed.

    Thanks,
    Rich
56.6RPM calculationsMKOTS3::BEAUDET_TTom BeaudetThu Aug 05 1993 15:1418
       Rgr x 336 x ( cruise MPH)
 RPM = -------------------------
             Tire Diameter

Another handy one is

	Old Tire diameter
	------------------ x original Rgr ration = Effective Rgr ratio
         New Tire Diameter

Rgr = Rear gear ratio (3.23 would be used where the ratio is 3.23:1)

Hope this helps.

      Thanks Tom, I had not heard of that 2nd formula before.
    Does anyone have a tire-height chart??

    Seems like a reasonable place to discuss...

    "Allysyn" (my '87 Mustang GT) needs new rubber. I'd like to put
    on some 50 series tires and 16" wheels...

    The motorsport catalog had just what I want for wheels - 5-spoke star
    wheels (that look stock for the later model GT's), 'cept they are
    polished and are $300/wheel.

    First, what tires might one recommend? I got a chubby looking at the
    Radial T/A ZRX tires that come on the cobra...Zowee! Anyone know how
    much I can expect to plonk down for these?

    Second, who makes some cool wheels (four-lug, 16") that I can *afford* ?

    Third, I'm concerned about new wheels/tires "rubbing" my wheel wells.

    Comments?

Browse your local tire/wheel shops (do you have a SuperShops there?). Look at
the wheels, ask questions. *Any* reputable tire shop should at least be able to
tell you what sizes will physically fit without interference. You might find
what you want... if not you'll know what size to order from your favorite
catalog.

    Thanks Tim - I'm in Colorado too - right down stairs from you.
    So, yep, we have SuperShops here. :-)

    Thanks for the tip!
