166.0. "LOOKING FOR INPUT ON DART HEADS" by IAGO::PROVENCAL () Mon Aug 28 1995 12:13

Hi,

My husband and I currently have a 67 camaro. He'd like to start rebuilding another moter that's just sitting
in the garage. I think it's a Chevy Small block 327. Last Friday we went to the Leominster Sheraton Cruising
were admiring an older corvette (think it was a 69) ... anyways, Bruce got talking to the owner, and listening
to the motor run. The guy said he had a small block in it with Dart Heads.

I was wondering if anyone out there had any info about these heads? Anyone bought them, used them, liked
them, what's the cost, where did you get them? etc.

Thanks,

Cathi Provencal

Dart heads are usually better than stock heads, assuming you have
a low hp small block. If you have the 2.02 heads and small cc
chambers already you won't get much benefit. The dart heads usually
have the intake/exhaust ports/runners cleaned up for better flow.

I guess they sell for ~$500/pair - bare.

You can buy them from any speed shop/mail order. I believe they are
    made by World products.

I looked into these at one time. I looked at Brodix, Dart/Merlin,
and Edlebrock Performer. I'm broke so I'ma gonna wait a while. I
think this is a nobrainer, I'm gonna get the Merlin heads for $477
and skip the $1500 aluminum heads.

    Regards,

    Cathi,

Depending on what your building the Camero for, such
as a everyday vehicle or a show and race car. If you
are planning on driving the car everyday you are better
of going with cast iron heads, but if you are turning
your car into a racer go with the Dart Alum. Heads,
you won't go wrong. Also if you have a budget on
Alum. heads Edelbroke sells a really good set of
heads for Small Block Chevy, they are called Performer
        RPM.
