2757.0. "Dr T soundeditor question" by JGODCL::LOENDERSLOOT () Fri Oct 25 1991 13:36

I have an Commodore Amiga and a SMU KORG M3. I'm looking for a sound
editor/librarion program. I just recently read an article mentioning
that such a program is available from Dr. T called X-or. This program
seems to support up to 100 different instruments, does anybody know if
the KORG M3 is one of these instruments? If not does anybody know if
there is another program which is capable of doing soundediting for
    this beast?

    Every information will be appreciated.

If not directly supported (I think it is though), you can
write the sysex profile for it into XoR.

Thanks for your reply. One question however, what do you exactly by
writing your own sysex profile? Can you add your own instrument set-up
to the library of supported ones?

basically, yes. Lots of it isn't sysex. The MIDI spec allows for
registered and non-registered parameters that aren't part of
system exclusive functions. Most modern boards map their functions
to registered parameters anyway, but any functions specific to
a certain board may map to a non-registered parameter. Something like
the filter cutoff setting is a registered parameter. Probably something
like voice layer mix might be a non-registered parameter (hypothetical
case). You can definitely set up maps for a specific board, since that is
	all XoR does.

Sysex implementations, on the other hand, are more likely to be geared
toward program dumps/loads, etc. Those would obviously need to be
setup as well for any given profile. Assuming your board's manual
has a reasonable amount of documentation on its MIDI implementation,
you should be able to find everything.

There is a Korg M3R profile/driver included with XOR. I seriously
doubt you'd want to write your own profile unless you had lots of time
to spend and know your SGU inside/out.
