Folks - COMMUSIC is getting big. That's good, as it means there is a
TON of information in here. It's also bad, as it can take a bit of
effort to find an answer...
The author of .0 has 2 distinct questions. "Are Kawai Keyboards
reliable", and "I need help with my DH100". There is a note dedicated
to the Casio DH horns where the second question could be asked. There
is *probably* (I didn't check, correct me if I'm wrong) a note where
the Kawai question could also be asked...
Before a new note is entered a couple things should be done...
1. Know the difference between "write" and "reply".
2. Familiarize yourself with the use of keywords.
3. Learn how to extract, delete and repost a note.
Entering a new note when there is an existing topic only makes it
harder for the next person to find the info. Brad did a LOT of work
organizing the conference, and I regularly go thru creating and
assigning new keywords.
I'd like to welcome .0 to COMMUSIC, and request that he, and everyone
else who needs to, take a moment make sure proper "notes etiquette"
is followed.

| I have both a Kawai K1-II and a Casio DH200 (functionally equivalent to the
DH100). I've had no problems with either, nor with using them together.
In terms of channels, I believe the DH horns send on channel 1, period; are
you perhaps thinking of the program change numbers 1-5? These correspond to the
5 available "patches" on the DH horns.
In terms of using your horn with a Kawai (or any) keyboard or SGU, just set
the unit to be triggered by the horn to receive on MIDI channel 1, and you
should be all set. BTW, if you have a mixer, try mixing the output of the horn
(via the heaphone jack) with that of the SGU (in this case, your keyboard).
Lotsa possibilities.
