2676.0. "HyperMIDI?" by FORTSC::CHABAN () Thu Jul 11 1991 20:58

Anyone out there using HyperMIDI? I pulled the shareware from the
maclib:: archives and played with it a little. I'm no HyperCard
hacker, but I get the feeling it would be a really cool way to make
some nifty MIDI tools for a Mac.

I've also seen a "productized" version at a local software store
but it seemed too expensive (>$100 ouch!).

I pulled it down from the archive too, but it's way over my head.
I'd like to figure out how to do dynamic play back of sequences,
but I've got a lot more to learn about MIDI first.

I'd be interested in what other folks are doing with HyperMIDI too!

I wrote a TX81Z librarian & patch editor using this. Took me a few
evenings, mostly in figuring out the mistakes in the TZ MIDI specs,
converting the MIDILIB dumps into a format my librarian could load,
and figuring how to squeeze those zillions of sliders onto one screen.

It is a little slow drawing all the sliders in the first place, but
once they are up it works.

There are a few bugs. Sliders too close to the bottom of the screen
    don't work right.

You will have to be pretty proficient at HyperTalk programming to
use this stuff. Don't try to write a sequencer with it - not fast
    enough.

Could it be used to write a convertor from type 0 to type 1 files?
