2662.0. "Book on SoundReinforcement?" by NIOMAX::LAING (Soft-Core Cuddler*Jim Laing*229-7808) Tue Jun 11 1991 20:39

    Are there any good, readily-available books
    on the subject of sound reinforcement? I'd
    like to learn more about that subject, in
    some detail ... there *must* be a good single
    source of such info!

Yamaha publishes such a book full of technical details.
I believe there is even a new edition within the last few years.

    ElectroVoice has a thing they call "The Sound Bible", and they update
    it periodically. See note #6 for their address.

	I pulled directories for text on note 6 for "electro"
	"electro-voice" electrovoice, and got next to nothing.
	Does anyone have the address or phone for Electro-Voice?
	Thanks

2662.4The Yamaha book has a good repTLE::ALIVE::ASHFORTHLord, make me an instrument of thy peaceWed Jun 12 1991 15:485
I seem to recall hearing the "Yamaha Sound Reinforcement Handbook" (I'm *pretty*
sure that's its moniker) referred to with a good deal of respect. Sounded like
it wasn't just a long advertisement, as one might expect.

    I lied. It was in note #5. Now it's here, too.

    Thanks! Just called EV, they're sending me one! I also found a Yamaha
    dealer that will order me the Yamaha book.

    I'll have more than enuf to read on this subject (once I get the
    books!)  Thanks.

2662.7I 2nd the Y+ bookMAJTOM::ROBERTThu Jun 13 1991 12:4310
  My uncle got me the Yamaha Sound Reienforcement handbook for Christmas.
  (one of the best gifts I've gotten!) It is very good, very thorough.
  A few areas "lost it" in my opinion, (or lost me at least) but overall
  well done. And as previously stated, it didn't promote Y+ stuff, it just
  referenced Y+ stuff (as well as others) for examples.

  My uncle picked it up at Daddy's in Nashua, thick black book. -FWIW
