| (This note should probably be moved to somewhere. Maybe the DX-11 or
TX-81Z topic? With a new B200 keyword)
The B200 is essentially the same thing as a YS200. Now that was really
helpful, wasn't it. :-) It is much the same thing as a DX-11, or a
TX-81Z, it is the multi-waveform 4-operator FM engine, plus an effects
(reverb, distortion, chorus) engine, in a largish, very solid (heavy!)
box. 5 octave keyboard, with velocity, don't recall about aftertouch,
but with the 200 in the name, I think it does.
It is a respectable unit, with one oddity. It has built-in speakers.
Not your typical wimpy built-in speakers, but massive magnet
'nuclear-car-stereo' speakers. This and the amps make it heavy.
Suprizingly for such an item, it is a tasteful grey color, and the
sound is very respectable. I once wanted one for taking to parties,
and such, but they evaporated before the price eroded to a point where
I would take the plunge.
For reference, the YS200's were dumped by Sam Ash in the $399 range,
and the YS100's (no aftertouch) for even less. Don't know the original
list.
Search for YS200 for more info. on what this unit is like. The B200
doesn't have the made-for-MTV science-fictional controls. It is more
staid-looking.
