2545.0. "Sequences" by DECWIN::FISHER (I like my species the way it is" "A narrow view...) Mon Jan 14 1991 15:20

I've seen several notes (including one of my own, I think) asking for pre-built
sequences to play with. There is not too much response to any of them.

I just found a number of them, and thought I would share the info:

1. Twelve-tone systems sells a whole wad of sequences for about $30. A mixture
of classical, pop-like and so on. (They claim not to be encumbered with
copyright, etc, so I assume that they probably don't have "real" pop tunes.

2. On the PC-LINK service, there are about 5 or 6 ziped files of Cakewalk
sequences. Some are fairly specific to MT32s, but others are at least modifi-
able. Some of these are clearly "real" songs, so I would be careful where and
how I used them.

2545.1Band in a box sequences9271::ROBERTMon Jan 14 1991 16:0021
The Band-in-a-Box software (of which I should soon be receiving a copy of
for both Mac and PC) comes optionally with a disk which is the equivalent
of "The Ultimate Fake Song Book", or least it's the same idea. It has I
believe around 500 "real" songs in Band-in-a-Box format, which is probably
close to text data... it's just the chord symbols basically along with a
  few other parameters.

Anyways, Band-in-a-Box will generate the piano/bass/drums for each of the
songs and it can be saved as standard midi files, which can then be read/
edited/played from just about any decent sequencing package. The sequence
itself wouldn't be as nice as the 'professionally' done versions, and it
may take some time to tweak them, but then again you're getting 500 songs
for < $90, and that includes the Band-in-a-Box software which is something
nice to have by itself. The actual breakdown is something like $60 BIAB,
and $25 for the song disk, but some places will actually throw in the song
  disk for free!

(see previous notes on Band-in-a-Box if you're interested)

If there are previous notes that apply, please use them.

Since almost all noters use "next unseen", starting a new note won't
give the topic any more exposure than a new reply to an old note, and
only tends to make the file more cluttered.

Use of keywords (DIR/KEY={subject}) or title directories
(DIR/TIT={xxx}) will often uncover lots of related notes.

You are right of course...I was lazy.

I'll move my base note to 1996.l. Perhaps the author of .1 can do the same,
and you can delete these last two notes.
