2518.0. "Casio 7000?" by CX3COM::T_ESTES (I am the walkin dude) Wed Dec 12 1990 17:19

    	I talked to someone about a Casio piano model 7000, is this
    a correct model, and if so what type of unit is it? I am looking
    for genral information as I can't seem to find anything out about
    it. Anything would be appreciated.

    The Casio CPS7000 is a digital (sampled) piano. I've seen pictures of
    one but never heard it. It has MIDI in/out, has a couple of extra
    sound (electric piano, organ, etc.) and a primitive sequencer/song
    memory.

    I have seen them sold, by mail, in the $7-800 range.

    	Okay that answers some of my questions, I have a chance to pick
    one up for $300 and wanted to know if, 1. That was a good price,
    2. If it would interface with my Casio CT670, and if it will if
    it would add any value to what I have.
    	I am pretty new to the world of Comm/music but have played
    piano/keyboards for about fifteen years. I'm trying to see what
    equipment I need to get to get serious. Any help would be very greatly
    appreciated.

2518.3I think we mean the 700 not 7000...ALEX::CONNAlex Conn, ZKOThu Dec 13 1990 15:4422
RE: .2

I think I ran across literature for the 7000 when I was doing my hunt a
couple of years ago. I think there may even be a note on it somewhere.

If I remember correctly, the CT670 is not touch (velocity) sensitive. The
7000 must be. That alone would cause me to be very interested in it for a
$300 price. [I find touch sensitivity the single most important factor
differentiating keyboards when using percussive type instruments, such a
piano. That is the main reason I sold my CT630.]

The only reson I am not saying "grab it immediately" is that in the two
years since I picked up my HT6000 used at Daddy's for 1/3 the list price,
more and more great units have become available cheap. So your options
are now pretty good if you're willing to hunt.

On the other hand, if the 7000 fulfills your needs (and you don't need
lots of patches and programmability, etc. etc.), go for it.
