2389.0. "Korg A3 Multi-Effects" by GRANPA::RUYOUNG () Fri Jul 13 1990 12:44

    Hey. Anybody hear of the Korg A3 multi-effects box? Didn't see it in
    here.

    	I had a copy of the literature on it; from what I remember it
    handles 6 (yes *6*) simultaneous effects, with a very broad range of
    different algorythms. Each is modified in real time according to six
    front panel knobs, too. It's MIDI and has an external big stomp box
    for program change and effect bypass (each six are independent). Also,
    the S/N ratio is 90 dB (better than Quadreverb's 85). Price? No idea.

    	Anyone else see/have?

    Mike

Keyboard did a review of it a few months ago. It's over $1K. I can
look up the review later to see if they liked it...

2389.2Never trust list. What's an exciter?MAMTS2::RUYOUNGFri Jul 20 1990 16:0113
    $849 at Chuck Levin's here in DC...

    Got compression, distortion, exciter, pitch shift, speaker simulation,
    chorus, flanger, ensemble, gate, reverb, delay, leslie, eq, panning
    effects, and a couple others. Supposedly a very good unit, according
    to Chuck Wagon's.

    Can anyone tell me what is "digital exciter?" What does it do
    (technically) and how does it sound (how would I recognize it on a
    track)?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    I'd suspect that it has something to do with "sweetening" the sound by
    adding harmonics, EQing, or a combination.

    For $850, it'd have to be a heckuva box. Also nice to see someone else
    who frequents Chuckie's.
