2170.0. "Christmas 1989 (Has anyone contacted Santa yet?)" by MUSKIE::ALLEN () Sat Nov 18 1989 17:19

    Ladies and Gentlemen:

This is a frivolous use of our corporate resources, I know, but
I was curious with the big "C"-day approaching, what if anything
were some of you thinking about giving/getting, strictly of a MIDI
nature. (And no, it is NOT too early; I've seen the lights going
up on more than one shopping mall and condominium!).

Moi? Alas...it is not to be this year. I bought in advance this
summer during the Kurzweil mania, and compounded the issue by
mortgaging 1990's gift through my R8 purchase (which as the bard
would say, "The one followed hard upon the other"). To wit, I must
not buy... 8-( But, I can still derive a sort of... shall we say
vicarious pleasure from hearing all of your plans.

And please, let's not have any more of those pragmatic buffalo chips
about "not being able to use the power we already have"! HA!!!
I've got enough voices to lay down a track thick enough to repair
the Bay Bridge and that wouldn't have stopped me!!!

But, soft my heart... let not our grief and envy chastise the righteous
buyer. Pray, then enlighten us with your fancies and thereby, make
    us merry.

    Clusters,

    Bill Allen

ps Can you tell that I've been in here too long, this weekend?

I'm aiming either for small things for my trip to Europe in January.
Unfortunately no toys, though if Santa is listening or any of you feel up to
it ;-) I'll take a Quadraverb, LXP1 and LXP5, an ART SGE, a roland RS-6 or
whatever the guitar preamp rack is, 2 matrix 1000, and proteus in a pear tree.
(and a TX81Z).

    Dear Santa,
after you get me a job that pays this much but isn't in the computer
industry, please get some sucker to by my old PAiA gear and home-built
synth so that I don't have to feel guilty throwing it away before I
move to Franklin where my job is moving, 30 miles away, next week.
Then get me a KX88 that weighs 40 pounds.
Thanks for the bed you got me early.
