2092.0. "RAMSA Sound Equipment?" by COGVAX::LABAK (The buck stops, next to the dough.) Mon Aug 21 1989 15:47

 I was wondering if any of you Commusic Noters had heard of RAMSA
Professional Sound Products (Panasonic Industrial Company). I'm
looking into new PA equipment for the band. I was wondering how RAMSA
compared to other companies like PV,Yamaha,Sunn etc. I not heavily
technical when it comes to all the bells and whistles that come with
different brands of PA equipment, but I'm slowing learning.

  I'm looking for an 8 channel mixing board, poweramp, speakers and
some type of effects box. Any suggestions would also be helpful. I'm
in the "gather as much info as possible before laying down the big
bucks stage."

Thanks for the help.

I have a RAMSA amp, stereo, 50 a side. It's incredibly quiet, and the
winning touch for me, was 1 rack space. They seem to pack a lot into
a small space. I've had no problems with it.

There's a place in Salem NH (used to be star systems, maybe it's
the music shop or something) that sells lots of RAMSA. Call
Ed Byrne, 603-894-6565, I'm sure he'll be able to help. He also
sells lots of Yamaha, too.

2092.2Ramsa MixersNRADM::KARLIt's computerized, no thing c,an go wrong nothing c an gTue Aug 22 1989 16:0817
    I bought a used Ramsa WR-8118 mixer a while back (18 channel mixer).
    I had it checked out professionally before I bought it, and basically
    was told that it was so quiet that I wouldn't have to worry about
    it being the cause of any noise when recording.

    It had been used in a band for six months or so, and the owner took
    really good care of it. But, having been moved around and played
    in clubs for six months, and still being in such great shape must
    say something for Ramsa quality.

    I did a lot of research when I bought it, and I can't remember
    specifically what people said about this mixer, but I know Ramsa
    quality (on mixers, anyway) is supposed to be realy good.

    Hope this helps!

2092.3Good compact speakersVOLKS::RYENRick Ryen 240-6501 AET1-1/A6Tue Aug 22 1989 16:256
	A while back, I did some comparative listening to PA speakers.
	My ears were very impressed with the compact models of RAMSA
	speakers. I thought that they compared very favorably with
	BOSE, which were quite a bit more expensive.

     Thanks for the response so far. I think I'm going to lean towards
    buying a RAMSA mixer (if the price is right). I haven't listened to
    any RAMSA speakers yet, but I did hear a pair of KMB speakers (15"
    with horn) last night. The KMB's sounded great and from what I gathered
    from the salesman, cheaper and better sounding then the Yamaha (15")
    speakers. The KMB's went for $549.00 for the pair.

    I have the RAMSA ?-200 speakers (can't remember the exact model).
     The ones with a 12" and a horn (tweeter?). I like 'em alot! Compact,
    sturdy, and at 35 lbs. each, I can carry 'em both, one in each hand,
    since they have a molded-in handle on the bottom. I did alot of
    speaker-shopping, with low size/weight as well as sound as my criteria;
    these weren't cheap (I paid ~$700/pr) but well worth it to me ...

    Ramsa has also been OEMing for some years. The last line of Fender
    PA gear from the mid eighties was all built in Japan by Ramsa.

    Looks like they are starting to make a foothold in the still largely
    U.S. controlled PA field.

      I LOVE my Ramsa WR-S212 mixer. It is extremely quiet, very flexible,
    and built like a tank. I used to use Studiomaster but have been
    using the Ramsa for the last four months. GREAT STUFF!

    No doubt, the Ramsa is a rather large step up the ladder from a
    Studiomaster.
