Where is the NAMM show going to be held?

It is already been held. In Chicago I believe. It happens twice
a year. Once in summer and once in winter. It is a trade show, not a
"Open to the public" show. Its where companies show new products and
dealers order them etc.

This month's MUSICIAN (probably the last issue before my subscription
deep six's) has two reviews of NAMM. The high points have pretty
much already been mentioned, but there were a couple of funny things.

First, some called it the "Wake at the Lake", referring to how boring
    it was.

Then, there was a joke: What's the difference between Elvis and
    the NAMM?

Some people think Elvis is still alive ...

There was also a cute thing they put in the back of the issue about
interviews (printed without permission, so don't tell anybody):

When rock stars say ... They really mean ...

I couldn't care less about my image.	I've got a $5,000 a month

with music.

That's a really good question! I have a pat answer.

Off the record ... I want you to take the blame
					for saying this.

That's completely untrue! Who the &*$# told you?

side.

That's a very interesting story ...	It will take me half an hour
					to tell it.

caught that.

I will never endorse a product. No one's asked me.

Bruce is a nice guy. What's so wonderful about *him*
					anyway?

MUSICIAN has really gone down hill.	They won't give me the cover.

I hate doing interviews. Here comes the media blitz.

I don't care about money. I'm really rich.

Not mentioned in .0 yet just purchased by yours truly is the
Digitech MSP-4, the new inexpensive ($265) version of the Dsp 128+.

Re .4:
    Two questions:

>> 20hz to 12Khz dry, up to 20khz wet.

I think I know what 'wet' and 'dry' mean, but I don't understand how
or why they can be different. I would think the 'dry' would just be
the original input signal passed thru.

    >> Stereo in's and out's.

Does this mean that there are two independent channels? If not, what
    does it mean?

Re: wet versus dry.

You got it. The dry signal is not passed through the digital
processing at all, it is mixed in an analog fashion with the output of
the signal processor.

Re: stereo.

If it is like the DSP-128, and I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that it
is, the stereo signal is passed through the dry path, but combined to
mono before it enters the digital processor. The output of the signal
processor is stereo.

What this means is that you can't, for example, set up the unit as two
separate delay lines using the left and right channels. However, it
will generate delay effects which use the stereo field, e.g. a
multi-tap delay where the taps are placed from left to right. Chorus's
and flanges are stereo effects, too.

It sounds like they just reduced the cost on the original DSP-128
chassis and gave it a new name.

You got it. Except the original dsp128 was three effects. MSP4 is
four. The only differance I can see between the MSP4 and the DSP128+
is the MSP4 has 14 algorythms while the DSP+ uses 17.
Also, I believe the DSP128+ has been discontinued in favor of
the DSP256. The MSP4 fills the low-end gap. Marketing devils!.
