1814.0. "db-s-BIM (more initials sought)" by DREGS::BLICKSTEIN (Yo!) Thu Dec 15 1988 14:57

I'd like to try to push my idea for a LERDS-BIM North (Nashua area).

    It could be:

o A weekly lunch out type thing

o A weekly lunch in type thing (in the cafe)

    	o A weekly after-work thing

If you're interested, send me your preferences, availabilities,
    suggestions, etc.

If you act soon enough, and participate regularly enough we may
somehow or another include your name in the name we pick (the
"LERDS-BIM" analog). How's that for incentive?

To you nothern types who have never been to a "real" LERDS-BIM,
if you really have an interest in MIDI and that kind of thing,
I think you will find this (and LERDS-BIM) to be lots of fun,
informative, social and the kind of thing you really look forward
    to each week.

Hey, LKG's not that far south. I'd be especially interested if
one of the venues was the Osaka Tea Garden on the DW Highway, which
    has great sushi.

I'd be interested in a weekly during the week thing. In or out of the
cafe here at ZK. Maybe 3 times a month in Cafe and 1 time out or
something similar. Maybe once a month after work. My problem is that
of time. It is easier to take time at lunch than afterwork.

No Edd, wait! I'll be back to the >>REAL<< BIM after the new year. I'd
love to see another one get started up here on a different day of the
week. This lunchtime crap is out of the question.

p.s. Do you guys have any idea how sick you can get eating sushi?!?
1814.9The way to do this is to PUSH a proposal out so...DREGS::BLICKSTEINYo!Fri Dec 16 1988 13:3829
    Hey Edd,

It's nothing against you. You're invited!

If you make the trek, I'll buy your first beer (but you'll have to
spring for your next 6 beers). ;-)

Actually, I'd love to do it in Littleton on Wednesday evenings cause
I have to be down there anyway. But it's not my intention to
"compete" in any way with the "real" (nah, let's say the "original")
    LERDS-BIM.

I have previously proposed Littleton as a compromise between the
Commusic Yankees and the Commusic Confederates (Framingham is
hardly appropriate for the Yankees) but the key Confederates sorta
    resisted that.

    Let me propose the following:

1st Wednesday of every month Yankee's-BIM will be at the Osaka Tea
garden in Littleton after work. Other Wednesdays it will be
    at Chestnut's in Nashua?

We could still have a "lunch in" thing, but I sorta like the idea
of relaxing with a cool one after work and talking MIDI. Most people
I've talked to or exchanged mail with seem to prefer that as well.
    (Trying to please the majority)

If those in mid-Mass. are 'Confederates', what does that make ME?

And before you answer, remember that I occasionally show up at these
    things..

FYI, Sushi is a small, cute, incredibly playful black female cat
that lives with us, after whom I named a piece 'La Chatte Noire',
not to mention the unlamented "Black Cat Suite". "Eating Sushi" is
    thus a repugnant concept..

BTW, one Dean Wallraff, Digital employee and EMAX owner, may show
up here in Tucson this weekend. Smart man ! (warm here ya know)

No, no, no! The Osaka Tea Garden is in *Nashua*! It's a place
to meet for lunch. I don't think they have a lounge as such.

And, Karl, I see how eating Sushi could make you sick, as Dave asserted.
I, of course, only eat sushi, not Sushi.

    Just a reminder...

The 3rd annual Christmas BIM is tomorrow night in the usual spot.

There will be a FREE buffet of sorts, great conversation*, live
entertainment and possibly a Synclavier door prize. Who knows, maybe
we'll even have a special guest appearance by ____ _______!!

    Be there!

    * Conversation may be difficult seeing as the world only makes one
complex timbre. Bring a spectrum analyzer.

Hey, are non-drinkers (as in, only 19 and without fake ID) allowed to
come, or would that completely defeat the purpose?

If so, where is the usual place?

	- Jim
1814.16Honestly dunno...WEFXEM::COTESing with the clams, knave!Tue Dec 20 1988 13:247
The usual place is Tom Foolery's on Rt 9 in Westboro.

Since there is a restaurant on the other side, I'm sure the <21s
are allowed in the building but don't know what ABC laws may govern
    a non-imbibing under-age in the lounge.
