1712.0. "15" THIELE DIMENSIONS?" by ROLL::BEFUMO (An Empty Teacup) Fri Oct 07 1988 16:48

    I'm about to start building a speaker cabinet for a 15" speaker,
    & was thinking of using the Theile design mentioned elsewhere in
    this file. Could anyone tell me what the dimensions of such a
    cabinet might be? Someone was going to send me the plans, but
    they never arrived, and now I'm in the position of having to get
    the job done right away, thus, any information that might be
    transmitted here will be better than the alternative, which is to
    just start building a box that will accomodate the speaker. thanks.

1712.1it's not as easy as you thinkMPGS::DEHAHNFri Oct 07 1988 17:198

    There are dozens of parameters you need to know to construct a ported
    cab using Theile-Small parameters. It's not that simple. What kind of
    driver is it? Make? Exact model?

    I see. My understanding was that there were plans floating around
    which were indended for use with an Electro-voice 15" speaker.
    Although I'll be using a cheapo RS driver, I figured any 15" design
    would be better than just pulling dimensions out of the air.

    There might very well be T-S parameters in the info from the RS driver.
    If you find them, post them here, and if I can find some time I'll
    crank it out for you.

1712.4Perhaps you could post the formulas?ROLL::BEFUMOAn Empty TeacupFri Oct 07 1988 18:275
    As a matter of fact, I believe I have some parameters at home.
    I'll post them tonight. How complex are the calculations? They
    might actually be of more use/interest to others as well. Thanks.
