1632.0. "Voyetra has CAT Synths, PAIA has MIDI Converters" by HJUXB::LEGA (Bug Busters Incorporated) Fri Aug 19 1988 14:20

    Voeytra has new CAT-SRM II's for $100.
    The CAT-SRM II is a non-midi, 2 oscillator, 1 VCO, 1 VCF, 1 LFO,
1 ADSR, 1 AR Analog Synth that sounds pretty fat.
I have a CAT-SRM (not II). It was my first synth (1979, $800)
and is busted , so Im buying the SRM II. I plan to use a midi-cv on it.

Also, I talked to PAIA. Their cv-midi box is not ready yet,
but the guy told me for $88 you will get a midi-cv, a Rs-232
to midi in/out, and the ability to gang mutliple units up
for voice allocation up to 16 voices. He said they should
have it out in about a month. for 88$ (in a kit) its sounds
like a real tool for software people to DIY.

I have PAIA's older kits (organtua) and they are (were)
great to deal with. They are synth/computer hackers
and they supported what they sold (this was in 1980)

Sorry for the noise, guys - I inadvertently deleted these notes while
attempting to clean up the file. They looked interesting enough to
    repost.

If you want to buy a CAT, here's the address and phone:

    Voyetra Technologies

    Attn: Gigi

I was told on Monday that they had about 100 CATs left in the
warehouse, $100 each plus UPS, they will ship COD. All units are
brand new, with 90 day warranty.

Not programmable, no MIDI, just a good old analog monosynth.

                                -< Got my cat >-

Well, after waiting for them to dig it out of the warehouse,
I got my CAT-SRM-II. It arrived with a hung note, I opened it up
and the plastic tab that holds the gold cats wisker onto the
keyboard bus has fallen out in shipping. But, after a little
nail polish to hold it on, everything works fine.
As expected its very fat and moogy sounding, complete with sync
and sample and hold. This instrument is really nice.
I got the Paia catalog and there are some of the deals:
    midi-CV/CV-midi 89$
    midi in -> 7 throughs $74
midi merger (add on to midi-CV box) 60$
    parametric eq 60$
    dual limiter $49
    quadrafuzz $60
    vocoder $99
all the kits for Craig andertons "electronic projects for musicians"
    book 12-32$
    midi remote keyboard $60
various curtis chip based ADSR, VCF, VCA, VCO boards: ~30$

all the prices are for kits.
If you are interested, I suggest you get the catalog.

I have no connection with PAIA, except I've been a satisfied customer
for 10 years. I'm ordering the midi-CV for my Cat SRM.
It supposedly has a RS232 to midi/and visa-versa, so Ill be
using the glib software with it, and my sanyo 555 PC.

    Cheers
    Pete

I've been working on glib for the last week or two and
have got a lot of the bugs out now. There are still a
few quirks/bugs to be worked on. If you would like a
copy of my version let me know by mail.

I'm using the MPu-401 interface, not RS232. It will be
easy to use a COM port instead of the MIDI interface.
