1531.0. "How About a Rackmount Atari ST?" by FREKE::LEIGH () Tue Jul 12 1988 18:00

	How many of you Atari ST users would be interested in
	a kit that would allow you to put you ST in a rack mount case
	and that would allow internal HD and 2 floppies, as well as a case
	for your (computer) keyboard that would make it a detached keyboard.
	It would also allow for space for an aftermarket power supply
	if you wanted to run the whole thing of off a real power supply?

	As far as I know, this doesn't exist now but I and a friend are looking
	into designing one and having it made.

1531.3will make and post results...ZEKE::LEIGHTue Jul 12 1988 20:1411

	We're going to build one and see how it looks, works, etc. My
	Atari is already running off a big power supply (enough to power 4 HD
	and 25 STs :-) ) When it is done, I'll post details. My friends
	dad has a machine shop so it won't be too bad to get a nice case.

	Any ideas on shock-mounting a HD  ?

    Liberal use of thick rubber grommets. Look at how the hard disks
    are mounted in the MicroVAX 3500 for an example.

    Or just look at how the drive assembly of an RD53 or 54 is hung
    in its frame.

    I actually saw an ad in a recent U.K. magazine for an "on the road
    ST" Kit. I think it consisted of a flight case and pull out drawers
    for the keyboard and accessories. I wil try and dig it out tonight
    and report back.
